Hi everyone, this may be a REALLY stupid question but when is it best to test?

I know it's best to test with FMU etc etc, but what I want to know is when in your cycle is best to test...

AF is due on Monday/Tuesday but I've not got the usual signs that she is on her way. Is it best to wait and see what happens and maybe leave it until I'm a few days (maybe even a week) late? Or would you suggest testing as soon as possible, maybe even now?

I don't want to get my hopes up, as I only came off the pill in October. But at the same time I'm just really impatient and want to know.

I had this weird dream that I wrapped up my positive pregnancy test for my hubby's Xmas pressie last night and then had a really restless nights sleep because I was thinking about it too much.

Also... I had a couple of days spotting about a week ago and have generally been feeling a little sick and tired for the past week.

I know I'm probably reading WAY too much into all of these signs, but it's hard not too!

Hey.

If possible you should wait AT LEAST until the day your AF is due because even those tests which tell you they can detect it early only have a bit over 50% accuracy at 4 days before. You need the HCG to to strong enough to turn the test positive so you could get a negative and still be pregnant. If you wait till a day or 2 after you have the best chance of getting an accurate result but some people dont get a BFP will a week after their period was due. I think this is because they probably ovulated and concieved late in their cycle so the hormone wasn't strong enough on the day their AF was due.

I agree with Anita, best to wait till, say, Wednesday otherwise you'll get into the vicious cycle of testing early which can be a bit soul destroying. Having said that, I might test early cos my AF is due Christmas Day and don't wanna be sat there wondering. x

Thanks guys, that's pretty much confirmed what I was thinking anyway

If I don't get AF, I will wait until I'm about a week late and then test... Although that will be Xmas day!!! So may wait a little longer (if I can manage it) and see what happens.

It's up top you Kimmy but if you usually have regular periods, I would test when you're late, so a day or 2 after, rather than a week after.

Well since I came off the pill (took last one on 19 Oct) I've had one 28 day cycle. I'm now getting to the end of my second cycle since I've been off the pill, so haven't really settled into a cycle yet.

That's one of the reasons I don't want to get my hopes up when I'm on day 30, as I may have a 31,32,33 day plus cycle this time... Oh it's all so confusing
