BBC News today - Links between weight and fertility

Just read an article on BBC News about the fact that overweight women have a much less chance of conceiving. See http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/7137311.stm I’ve read this so many times recently and I just think it’s important to keep in mind for those of you who have been trying for a long time and feel they’re overweight – there’s probably a connection.

I say this cos a woman at work has been TTC for 3 years. 6 months ago, she decided to shift some weight (she’s 2 stone over her ‘normal’ weight recommendation) and went to Weight Watchers. She lost 1 and half stone over 6 months, and last week told me she was pregnant (only 5 weeks so far, but PG after 3 years of trying!! She thinks it’s connected).

I think for any of those TTCers who’ve been trying for a long time and are also overweight, this is a great New Year Resolution idea. x

I'm Currently Feeling:

I've seen that before, one of my friends TTC for years, until one day her doctor told her, that if she didn't loose the overweight it would harder for her to conceive, so she lost all her overweight and 5 months later she was pregnant, she now has 2 kids

So is really important to take care of the weight

This was the main reason for me to make a healthier life style change. I started to ovulate once I lost 25 lbs. I don't have a regular cycle now but I'm still on a plan to lose more weight (37 lbs so far, woot!). I hope that the weight lose will help to regulate my cycles.
