Chemical Pregnancies

I've had two chemical pregnancies this year (July and December) and also a miscarriage in September. I'm beginning to think that it's not meant to be.

Has anyone else experienced chemical pregnancies or any advice as what I should do from here?? Should I keep trying?? Should I give up??

I went to my GP back in the summer with the first Chemical Pregnancy. All he could say were that pregnancy tests were very sensitive and it could possbily be a very early pregnancy or late AF but there was no way of telling. He said to just keep trying. Well we've done that and getting no where. We've been trying for 12 months but because we have a daughter we're not considered to have any fertility problems although it feels to me that we have

Very confused.

Ok, also replied under your other post...but if you have been trying for a year they may consider you for tests...I know that where I live they are willing to start looking into infertility causes usually after a year of actively trying or after 3 m/c. Not just sure how far along you have to be for them to consider it a m/c with all the sensitive tests out there now. And I guess it also depends on how old you are...the older you are, the sooner they'd look into tests I'd think...

Maybe you should talk to your doc about when they'd consider starting tests. Even though you have one daughter it doesn't mean there can't be issues. At least after you talk with them you'd know when you can expect help...or see about getting a second opinion on looking into things.

It will be ok. You will be okay. I know both my SILs took a long time to get pg, had multiple m/cs and both have 2 wonderful kids now.

Well I'm rapidly heading towards 35 so I'm not at the most fertile of ages either!

I will make an appointment with GP and see what they say.

Thanks.

I think that's a good idea. Like I said, just because you already have a daughter doesn't mean there can't be issues now. And hopefully they can do something for you. And if this one won't, maybe see about seeing someone else.

I agree with what Dakini said, you should definately not give up hope and speak to your doctor about it.

Chemical pregnancies are considered miscarriages (because your body has 'miscarried' the baby), even though they are very early ones. You could just have been unlucky or there could be a small problem that can be easily fixed. Whatever happens, because you have had three miscarriages this year, you are entitled to get investigative tests and then something can be done to help you.

Miscarriage is very common and there are lots of women who have had recurrent miscarriages and have gone on to have healthy babies.

Good luck to you, I really hope you have a healthy and happy pregnancy soon. I suffered an early miscarriage last month as well (at five weeks), which probably would be classed as a chemical pregnancy. It is really heartbreaking, you do end up really despondant and down. I am trying to pick myself up to looking forward to trying again. I hope things work out for you hun.

I'm so sorry you've had such a hard time hun

I agree with the other girls about seeing another GP. Surely they can do a simply sperm test for DH and a progestrone test for you? Have you been charting or using OPK's.

Either way, I wish you a speedy BFP and a H&H 9 months

I can only imagine how hard your losses have been and I think you're incredibly strong to keep going. Even if you take a short break so that you can hop off this emotional roller coaster for a few months and get back on when you feel as though you can. You can do this and make your baby dreams come true, I think you've already proved how very strong you are.

Don't give up! My friend had many chemical pregnancies and now is finally pregnant with her first after going on clomid. I think its a good sign that you can at least get pregnant. I have yet to every see a positive test result *sigh*.

Thank you so much ladies for your advice and support.

FJL - Yes I'm charting (only started last month!) and have also been using OPK's. Conceiving doesn't seem to be the problem, making it stick does!

Anyway, been to see my doctor today and he has referred us to a fertility specialist. The appointment is in January so hopefully we'll find a solution!!

Well I confess that I knew nothing about chemical pregnancies before coming on here and it was suggested.

I have s strong feeling that is what happened to me. I started my af on 28 days, never before, very light, very short, no pains, nothing, straight after finishing I had sore boobs, slight dizziness and headaches, as before when I had a mc. I didn't feel pregnant though. Anyway, 2 weeks later I started af!!!! Felt the cramps, slightly, sore boobs went. Did a test when I was spotting and it was negative, but I didn't want to test before this as I thought it was too early and didn't want to jinx it. So not a great end to the year, mc early this year and now a chemical p. Marvelous!!

Anyway, will stay positive, if I can have a mc and a cmc/cp, then it is possible for me to get pregnant, just have to hope that my body will accept this and get past 9 weeks. Here's hoping
