| First trip to Fertility Clinic - advise needed :o) hey ladies, so today i had my first appt at the fertility clinic. they were really great and she said we could start doing some tests right away, it was totally my decision as to how fast or slow they moved things along.
i was really excited to be able to do all the tests but i am a bit worried about the dye test as i've heard it's really painful. i feel like i want to wait a few months and try to get pg without have to do the dye test but if i wait and nothing happens i will probably regret it wish that i had it done. do you think i should just go and get everything tested? that includes sonogram (?) where they fill the uterus with liquid and then do ultrasound. we've been ttc for 7 months but they referred me as i had problems with prolactin when i was younger (breastmilk at 19!). i feel lucky that they want to start right away as i know some people are on a 12 month waiting list. so should i just go for it and get all the tests done next month? | | | | Status: Offline

| Hi Hun. I think if it was me then I would have the tests done. At least then you will know either way and wont have to go back through all of this in a few months if you don't conceive on your own. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Mojo, if it is where they insert a catheter in your uterus, fill it with dye and then x-ray it? Then I have had it done. It does hurt, but it is not the worst pain ever. To keep the dye in they use a little ballon that is inflated in the cervex and that is where the pain came from. Once, the Dr was done, it was fine. It is just uncomfortable, and I felt a bit violated, kinda like someone had crawl up in me, and had a look around, which is basically what is being done. I say it is better to know then not to. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | I'd go and get the tests done hun, that way you will know one way or the other.
I had some sort of dye test done about 6yrs ago. I was put through a lot. I was experiencing bad pain during sex, bad period pain, irregular cycles etc. First thing was this dye test I can't even rembember why they did it. To be honest it was the most painful thing ever for me BUT don't stress out, it was because of my problem and diagnosis, for the avg woman it wouldn't be that painful. It hurt me so bad that they couldn't go through with it...I had 3 nurses holding me down, it was very traumatic. Then I had a laparoscopy as they thought I had endo, and other various tests. At the end the gyno told me it was all in my head and there was nothing wrong with me.
Angry as hell I got a 2nd opinon and within 5mins this gyno diagnosed me with vaginismis. A condition where anything that is inserted into the vagina causes the muscles to painfully contract and make everything really tight. So thats why the dye test was so painful for me.
Sorry for that long story but I just wanted to let you know that yes I have had it done, and the reason it was so painful for me.
Sorry, I always go OT in posts, feel free to tell me to shut up LOL

| ok shut up hehe only kidding, couldn't resist i am ok with pap smears as long as they go in slowly. i get REALLY bad period pains, like if i don't take a painkiller before it starts i'm doubled over and can't move for an hour so as long as it's no worse than that i should survive. this month more than any i am really hoping for a bfp to avoid all tests. oh well, i guess what will be will be, thanks for all your support ladies
how did you overcome vaginisimis? is it a phsycological thing that you clench up or is it a physical condition? if we don't bd for a few days i get quite tight down there and it can be painful 'going in' but after a few minutes of pumping it stretches out and is ok (omg sorry for tmi)

I'm Currently Feeling: | It is still an issue for me Mojo, but nothing like before. For me, it is a physical conditon (Mum had it too) as i've never been abused or told sex was dirty or wrong etc. The gyno told me that once I had a baby i'd be fine (how ironic, no baby and sometimes painful sex, double whammy!)
I SO hope you get your BFP this month hun so you don't have to have anything done...except give birth of course and more for you! | | | | Status: Offline
