Should I talk to him?


I have been reading around about the reasons of a Blighted ovum to occur. Most of the sites (medical sites) inform that it might be chromosomal error, no mistake done by the couple, it's just bad luck.

But here came this website where it says that

I want to talk to DH about him checking out if there is something wrong with him. I dont think woman should put all the pressure in the world on their shoulder. I want to ease my mind that at least he tested!

Should I?? Anyone out there has discussed it with hubby??

if i were you i might talk to my gp first and ask if it could well have been due to the sperm and you could also ask how long you have to wait etc. to get sperm tested. I am only saying this because it may be a touchy subject many guys feel it makes them 'less of a man' plus your OH might feel a bit guilty about what you have had to go through> Just a thought at the same time it would probably be good to find out!

I agree with pp. maybe talk to your GP first to get their opinion, and then talk to DH.

Hi Suzan!!

Tough one and I agree that it is indeed a touhy area for men. Speak to your GP or a fertility specialist, if they agree hubby could get tested - then you could just say to hubby doctor wants to give you both the full once over. He'd be less "emasculated" with the doctor's request than directly from you! ...methinks.....

Hi Suzan I agree talk to your gp & ask for his/her opinion. I know wher I live it is just a case of getting an empty sample pot of your gp, your oh does his business in it then puts it under his arm to keep it at body tempeture then you leave it up to the lab in your local hosp... good luck & you are in my thoughts...Elle xx

We had numerous repeated miscarriages and one of the last things theytested was hubbys sperm. Found there was a problem with some of his sperm. Nothing they could do to help, we just had to wait for an unaffected sperm to meet an egg!. But, it was a relief to find the cause of majority of the miscarriages. Having said that miscarriage is very common and often just nature ( horrible phrase i know). Good luck with future pregnancies

Actually Coccyx....there are natural remedies that some have had success with in regards to abnormal or slow sperm motility. Where the male takes a least a 50mg supplement of Zinc and or one with L-Carnitine (sp) (I think), it ahs been known to help.

Also BDing excessively is not good when the male has low sperm count, slow sperm motility or lots of abnormal sperm. It is advised to time BD'ing accoring to ovulation and wait until a postive is recorded on an OPK or exactly around ovulation to BD and at least a week or 3-4 days before ovulation. The more often you BD the lower the count and slower the sperm mobility - if the male has fertility issues.

Sorry scotchbonnet, should have said they couldn't help us with sperm problem as it was due to unbalanced translocation that means that some of the chromosomes have shuffled around and fetus unable to grow correctly as not got correct genetic info. Have heard that some supplements can aid quantity and quality of sperm. Think its a shame that males are often investigated last, when no problems are found in female.

i would say talk to him and let him know it may be a possibility, at least that way he can get used to the idea slowly rather pouncing on him with a 'sperm test' which may dent his ego a bit. or reasure him it most likely isn't him but you just want rule out the possibility so can he please do a test.

my hubby is a chef and apparently fertility can be a problem for chefs as the heat of the oven they stand on front of for 10 hours day can kill the swimmers. i told him straight up he has to get a test done, he was ok about and actually started wearing looser undies and trousers once i had told him he may the problem bless him xx
