birthing centres

I really like the idea of that- they offer a natural and unstressful delivery. No pulling or twisting poor baby, and offering minor pain relief such as the birthing pool and natural rememdies. There are midwifes on hand that are not rushed and encourage breastfeeding...

I really like the sound of this, if I should ever get my I would defo consider this- as giving birth in a hospital where they have no time for you- pulling the baby out by its neck makes me shudder.

that does sound good, i really dont want to give birth in a hospital where they dont care, but i know when its your first and you are young etc they are reluctant to let you do anything like that.

My friend from work went to one, trotted in at 3am got in the pool, delivered at 7am. No pain, no mess! Baby is three weeks old and she is ready for another!

My other colleague I heard today straightened her hair and did her makeup before her 1 hour delivery and had time to reapply her makeup for the first pics of her and the baby.

I work with stepford wives! LOl!

It's not that they dont care in hospital, its just manic and always a queue of people in front and behind you who need your bed! lol.
I think for a first birth you need to be around people who are experienced and can reassure you if anything were to go wrong, birthing centres are a really good idea and aslong as they are in a close proximity to a hospital I would use one, but probably more for a second baby as im going to be a nervous wreck when that day does come! xx

If I should be so lucky to be thinking about those options right now...

Actually, I love the idea of being able to walk around and deliver which way is most comfortable. I'm just a scaredy-cat and would want a medical team there in case something scary happens. If I ever do get a BFP, I'll be researching the heck out of it.

I completely agree - I found one close to my (and to two hospitals) and went in to tour the facility and have a pre-conception check-up. The ladies were lovely and I can't wait to go back with a BFP
