TTC inactive thyroid can i still get pregnant?

Hi and Good Morning,

My partner and I have been TTC for approx 6mths. Had some routine tests done yesterday and had a call from the doc saying i have an inactive/low thyroid problem.

First thing went through my head was will i still be able to conceive? i looked on one site and it said may cause infertility. I feel sick to the pit of my stomach. Maybe i am worrying over nothing, i would be grateful for anyones advice. I have to see my doc later this pm.

AF is due on the 16th of this month, i have so many thoughts and emotions going around my head. Trying hard to keep busy and positive.

Many thanks for your time,
Love & best wishes

well iv had thyroid prob but always after having a baby, after the baby i tend to get an over active thyroid which is then controlled by thyroxin tablets for around 6 months it normally then goes bk to normal by itself, but iv never had an inactive or under active thyroid but what i do know is huns its noting to panic about and ur doc will also prob give u thyroid pills to help it along working again which in turn will then help fertility, hope this helps as not sure if an inactive thyroid is something totally different, also did doc say he prescribing u anything for it hun??

Thanks Charlie. I am seeing the doctor later today so hopefully find out a little more. I do recall one of my friends having issues with her thyroid after pregnancy. I know its better to get it all sorted first, but sometimes looking on the net can cause more worry than good if u know what i mean. I have stopped smoking too been off them for 5mth as TTC, god what i would give for one now!

Hey ho!

Many thanks to you and hayley for your reply.

Love Tally x

Hey hun,

As long as it's control with the right level of thyroxine you'll be absolutely fine.
