OPK - should I buy 1 today even if AF started last week?

I’m gonna go buy an ovulation kit at lunch cos I fancy having a try (even though I said I wouldn’t, I just feel I need to know when I ovulate cos my hubby’s shifts are a nightmare so we can’t BD every other day like most can!). However, I read that they only work if you start using them from the first day of AF (eg. the Clearblue one)( but my AF started last Wedn. Can I still use them? Keeping in mind, I’m going to Boots Chemist so it’ll be an ‘off-the-shelf’ one.

Thanks gals! X

PS. My bro’s girlf told me it would be ‘ridiculous’ if I fell PG (she doesn’t know we’re trying, this comment explains why!) as we’re only been married a few months. Silly cow. But then this is the same woman who said ‘why?’ when we told her we’re getting married. Grrrrr! Maybe it’s cos they’ve been dating for 7 years and he still hasn’t proposed yet …

hmm test OPK on the first day of your period doesn't sound right. Link below is a chart on when to test based on your cycle length.

Hi there,

I've just used my first 'ever' OPK today (day 8 of my cycle). The advice on the previous reply is bob on and you will be able to work out which day you should start these daily tests according to the average length of you own individual cycle.

They're fun.
