Folic Acid or Multivitamins - any side effects?

Just wondered if anyone had noticed any side effects since taking Folic Acid or Multivitamins? I have a strange issue with lack of taste and tingling sensation in my mouth and it has been suggested there may be a link.

Anyone else experienced this?

Mine are Sanatogen Mother-to-Be with Folic Acid. My strange mouth symptons do seem to coincide with when I started them. I even went to my dentist today. It was her who suggested it may be the Multivitamins.

I take mine on a full stomach, keeps the nausea at bay.

Hmm, I don't have any problems. I'm not actually on a prenatal or preconception vitamin, just a normal multivitamin with plenty of folic acid. I compared several brands of vitamins and the daily values of the prenatals were the same or less than the A to Z. You might simply try switching brands of vitamins? It could be an issue with something they use to hold the capsule/tablet together.

Thanks for the comments ladies. I think maybe I will try a different brand just to see what happens. I may take the multivits separate from the folic acid. Worth a try I guess.

Me too. I take Pregnacare Plus, which also has omega3 capsules. I only feel a little nauseous if I take them on an empty stomach, which it recommends against so my own fault then really

Hehe yes I have neon wee as well - its just the extra water soluble vitamins coming out in your wee that your body doesn't need. I take pregnacare last thing at night and therefore I don't suffer any nausea.
One word of caution - if you are taking regular multivits that aren't specifically for pregnancy, make sure that you have the correct amounts of each one - for example Vitamin A shouldn't be too high as this can harm your baby.
