When to seek help?

Hi Ladies

I am just wondering how long my OH and I have to be TTC before we can seek help from the doctors?
I read that if you are under 30 you need to wait a year. Well I am 27 but my OH is 37 so whose age do we go by?

We have been TTC for 7 months now, which I know isn't that long in comparison to a lot of you ladies out there, but still seems like ages to me!!!!!

I don't suppose it would do any harm to go and speak to your doctor. They do say that you should wait a year, I suppose it depends how worried you feel about it.

I'm 28 an DH is 31, I will wait for a year myself before going to the doctors.

Fingers crossed it won't come to that for either of us

Hey huni i am 26 and my OH is 38.. we been TTC since stoppin BC at end of September on my 7th cycle and just know its not my month so be headin into the 8th cycle i think!!

OH is waiting on a letter to get his sperm tested and i am off to see gyno in few weeks for first appointment.. i only decided to go see my doctor cause my cycles are quite long and i not sure if this is affecting us TTC our first child!!

Doctor then referred me to gyno!! OH wanted to get his sperm tested for peace of mind!! Not sure what gyno will do as he prob stay we need to be trying for full year but might help with the long cycles cause really i have no idea when i ovulate etc as there varied every month!!

I see no harm in going to your doctor to talk about TTC etc and maybe get the ball rolling huni! I know how you feel.. i am sooooooooooooo down in the dumps i just get a feeling its never goin to happen to us, i mean i feel so down its really takin its toll on me at the min!!

I can relate to wot your say and hope you and I do get that BFP so very soon

xxxxxxxxxxx

Hi ladies,

im currently off the bcp for 10 months and only had 3 cycles in that 10 months...but only actively started trying about 2-3 months ago (but in that time only one AF)- but im going back to my docs (yes, already been once lol) in a week...its causing me so much stress having these irregular/long cycles and im only 20yrs old!! I wanted peace of mind that hormones, ov etc are all ok so am demanding bloods done when i go next friday...

honestly, i think if you are having irregular/long cycles you should be helped cause its SUCH a hard time...and such a long wait it gets you down. My fiancè is 31 on thursday and he dont want to wait either so i say...if you are truely concerned jemlou...just go speak to the doc, even getting reassurance from them may put u in the +ive mindframe you need!!! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

there is no harm in going to your doctor for some advice - they will tell you if your are missing anything that might help, and will advise you when to come back if you ahven't got your
i am off to see my doctor next week although we have only been trying since january and we are 24/25 but my last 2 cycles have been anovulatory. there are no hard and fast rules, it is just the 1 year is the time at which most will wait until referring you on, but your GP will still see you!

they go by the womans age hun.

the gp wouldnt refer us to gynae until we had been ttc for 2 years, which imo is awful..... imo i think the fact a 20 year old who has been trying two years (3 now) is more worrying than a 30 year old ttc for 6 months. no offence meant there, im sure youll see where im coming from.

sometimes you have to be quite forceful. im going for ivf, but had to fight for that due to my age, noone was taking us seriosuly. my oh is 27.

go see your gp hun, see what they suggest.

good luck xx
