long cycle - ovulation test

I am new to this forum and my cycles are usually quite long (average about 40 days). When would you recommend to start using the ovulation test? Normally it is on day 14 of the cycle but as mine is so long, it might not be worth starting so early. What do you think?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks Ladies.

40 day cycles are normal no need to see your gp hun. i would start testing from about day 23 its up to you whether you want to test once a day or twice a day but dont use first morning urine they say the best time to get an accurate result is about 2pm

Ok, thanks. I will test from next week then!! But hubby is away for part of next week.. oh well, just keep our fingers crossed.
I have always had very irregular cycles. 40 days seemed long but they say above 45 is unusual. So I am not too worried ...
