Ovulation

Just wanted a bit of advice really. I came off the pill in January and cycles have settled at 28 days. This month I have used OPKs for the first time. I am on cd13 and experiencing some cramping and EWCM but the OPKs remain negative. They are cheap ones off the internet.
If I only test daily could I have missed O? Do you get cramps before ovulation actually occurs or is it only when the egg posts out? or may I get a positive OPK later down the line?
Sorry for asking silly questions but this is the first time I have used OPKs and would appreciate some guidance by you experienced ladies.

hi hun , ok so when i ov i get period like pains mild but there also check you dischargse is it stringy ??? this is a sign of ov hope this helps x
