TTC - Depo Provera Inj.

Hello there,

I am new! My name is Laura, im 21 and TTC. I had on the 26th of Feb, my first ever Depo Provera injection, so this means it will run out on the 26th of April. I will not be renewing this, looking into it seems bloody awful!

I keep reading how long it takes for your cycle to return back to normal - and to be honest it is getting me down somewhat. I have started taking Agnus Castus in the hope that it may help my period come back sooner than i am reading.

I have stopped smoking, and am eating healthily so as to give my body the best chance it can of regulating again. Is there anything else i can do in the mean time?

I dont know if there is anything the doctors can give me to regulate it? I keep reading that if you go on the pill you magically get periods once again, or if you take that norithesterone then it somehow brings them back!

Any information or experiences on how long it took not only to conceive but to gain a regular cycle would be much appreciated.

Thank you very much,

Laura

Hi

If it's similar to the pill (which I would think it is in this context) it varies so much from person to person.

Hopefully cos you're 21 (which has got to be a prime fertility age) you'll spring back pretty quickly.

Good luck x

Taking birth control pills will bring on a period, but only the fake bleed ones. Till the injection is out of your system you cant ovulate. Unless theres something they can do to reverse it, but i dout it. When i stopped the injections my cycles were totaly messed up. To help regulate it the doc got me to take a few months of the pill. It seemed to help. My sis who was on the same thing just went cold turkey so to speak. It took her around a year to get normal periods. It seems to have taken me far less.

the depo lasts 12 weeks, so it would be around may 26th not april.

It took 10 months for my periods to return after my depo run out but i get a monthly cycle, rougly about 35days long, but very very light, and only lasting 2 days.

Like everyone says, it varies from person to person. I would make sure you start taking pre-natal vits or at least folic acid in preparation.
