So here is my situation. I have been TTC for about a year now and this month something strange is happening. My cycle is always 27 days and OV on day 13 or 14, normally have a few days of spotting prior to AF. I was due to start AF on Sunday and on Thurday got a few tiny spots and so I figured that I was going to start soon. Then on Friday I had a little bit of brown spotting and some clear discharge. Nothing again until Saturday afternoon, that afternoon thought I started AF but still not very heavy. Sunday wake up and no bleeding. Then in the afternoon bleeding started again but not enough to fill a liner. Took a HPT - negative. Monday woke up and still no AF. So I called my OBGYN and asked what to do and the nurse told me that my hormones may be going through some "changes." SO they gave me a blood test and that came up negative. Discouraged I made myself come to terms with the fact that I am probably not pregger but then again tonight (monday) I had a tiny bit of spotting again and when I use the bathroom there was tiny bit of brown discharge. What is going on? Could the blood test be wrong?

When the lab called the doctor for blood orders she said that it was for a tighter. I am not sure if it was quantitive or qualitive.

What is a tighter? As long as it measured hCG, it was the right test. Did the doctor say what the actual number was?

I went to the Hospital lab at 10:30 and they still hadnt received the order from the doctors office. When the receptionist called I heard her say "oh just a tighter then." I didnt think anything about it and went home. The doctors office called me at 12:15 to tell me that the test came back negative.

So no they did not give me a number... just a negative

I think a titer is a measure of concentration - maybe they were taking a titer of blood? Otherwise, I've never heard of a tighter blood test. Perhaps that test was done too early? I would continue doing hpts for a few days if AF doesn't show. Good luck!

That is what I was planning on doing. I am still feeling bloated and having some lower backaches. I dont want to get myself excited if I am really just sick or somthing trivial.

Would it be worth it to call the Lab and see what test they did?

I just wanted to say I'm in the same situation, but I didn't get a blood test done. I hope you get a good answer soon!!!
