Jabs today:(

So lo is having his mmr and other boosters today

A couple of people have said to give calpol an hour before, is this advisable?

Also any advice on what to do when he is actually having them? I am happy with my decision to immunise but I just can't bear the thought of taking him to experience pain

His comprehension is generally great, should I try and talk him through what is happening then sort of sympathise with the pain? Or should I try and distract him? Was thinking of taking some things he's not normally allowed but loves like a fruit shoot and a chocolate mouse lol!

Any tips greatfully received

i never gave my calpol before jabs, but always did straight after. Not sure whether it'd make a difference if it was taken before or after?

& i would do both the distraction whilst having them done, then comfort & sympathise once he's had them they can be quite 'off it' for the next couple of days aswell hun, just to let you know. I'm sure the doc will explain all that to you x

I'd definitly go for the distraction. We got LO all ready for hers, trousers off, banana and date bar at the ready and anew toy. Took her temp and she couldn't have it! Lol. Going to try again this thurs! Good luck, its 3 in the leg so not that much diff from the last set he would of had. x

All done

I went for distraction and took his favourite Oso with us but inevitably he cried his eyes out! Thankfully not for long and I gave him some ribena afterwards so he was quite happy then!

We're home now and a bit grumpy so I'll give him some calpol in case his legs are sore

Thanks

Distraction didnt work for us, I tried his favorite squeezy yogurt and he promptly spat it out and started crying. He was okay after he had calmed down, just had tender legs.
