I find the same thing, but I think I just find it hard in general. The friends without kids don't understand at all, I had one friend tell me that my 4 month old daughter was being "manipulative" because she was crying then looking for me. She didn't even have the cognitive abilities to be manipulative then!

But then with the friends who have kids, it inadvertently becomes a contest as to who's kid has done what and when. Its never malicious, but I've noticed if I asked someone if their LO was walking yet, because they will do it at some point after 11 months or so (or earlier!) and then its defensiveness and feeling the need to explain why.

Claire was a horrible sleeper, and so my friends kids who did sleep would try to give pointers, but it wasn't anything that we were doing, she just slept crappy. I find I can't win either way.
