Ok here's the question. We got the potty part down in the house but he just wont go "poo poo". We have tried everything we can think of and so far nothing is getting it. Any of your suggestions will be greatly appreciated.. Thanks so much in advance!!!

we just got Dec to poop in the big toilet, we told him the fishy needed some food and they liked this poop (I know a little gross) but within a few days he was feeding the fishy on a regular basis. Good luck xx

He may not get it yet or he may not be ready emotionally. The most important thing is for you not to stress too much about it and above all, don't stress him out. The more stressed he is, the less likely he is to go for you. For some kids with stressed parents, it even becomes a bit of a power struggle game...he gets so much attention when he doesn't go, it is more fun not to...negative attention is still attention....

So, if you see him having a bowel movement, put him on his potty and when he's done, praise, praise praise him...tell him how great he is and reward him. When you miss the chance, still take him to the washroom to change him and wipe his bum like a big boy and when possible, dump his poo in the toilet, then wash his hands. (if he resists any part of this...let him..it means he needs some time) Do as much of the ritual the same as if he had gone in the toilet, but behave the same way you would if you were changing his diaper. Which means, no anger, no stress, but no praise either. Just normal, except using training words...."let's wipe your bump... wash wash your hands...."

Be persistent, but give him time! And relax! He'll get it when he's ready!
