Letting a 16 month old sleep on their front

More and more often Tegan has started sleeping on her front. She sleeps in a sleeping bag because she won't keep the covers on, and she has a pillow in her bed (under a sheet) because she can't sleep flat due to one of her disabilities.

I was wondering if its ok to leave her to sleep on her front. I've been going in and turning her over - but she looks so comfy and I wondered if its time to let it go and let her sleep however she wants. I know I'm just being paranoid, and its probably fine to let her sleep that way at her age. The only problem is because of her Spina Bifida she has mobility issues. On the floor she can't get from her back to her front (she manages fine in bed tho but I'm not sure if she can get from front to back in her bed or not. I think she knows not to sleep face down and she can get from front to hands and knees so she should be ok... right? Just need some reassurance

If she has good head control, and can push up on her hands and knees like you say, I wouldnt see why not.

Chloe has been sleeping on her front since about 9 months.

Tigs will be fine, she has the reflex to move now and wont sleep with her face pressed in to the matress I suspect. I think its more of a worry with younger babies as the cant move if the struggle to breathe...

Like you I used to try and turn Chloe over but it became pointless!

Charlotte has been sleeping on her front from as soon as she could roll over. It's th only way she would sleep and is still the only way she'll sleep

Grace has always slept on her front. Like the others have said if she is able to push herself up then I wouldn't worry about it

Same with Violet. If I turn her over whilst she's asleep, she'll only roll back over again!

Like the others have said, as long as her head control is good then she'll be fine. It's very nerve wracking to begin with but you eventually learn to be less paranoid!! x
