Stupid shepard show

My 4 year old is to play a shepard in her nursery nativity. She is not amused. She wanted to be Mary!!!! Anyway since day 1 she says the show is called the stupid shepard show! and has said she doesnt want to do it. 3 weeks on and nothing has changed and she says shes just not doing it and will be sick that day!!!

Any ideas? Should i just let her bow out gracefully rather than upset her.....

Sorry, it is quite funny and one to be repeated when she's older!

Personally I would tell her that she HAS to do it.
If you let her not be involved because she doesn't get to be Mary she might think its acceptable to only take part in things if you're the main focus of attention.Maybe just try and focus on how important the shepherds are to the story and convince her that her part in it is just as important as any of the others (eg Mary) xxxx
