when does a baby become a toddler?

Hi, as the title says really - I was wondering when toddlerhood officially starts? Billie is almost walking and is tryng to say a few words (I know what she means even if its gibberish to others!) Anyway, I'm already dealing with tantrums and hissy fits, lol. I'm finding less applies to us in Baby Club so will be keeping more of an eye in here in the future

you can move over whenever you feel ready to do so

It varies really, different people will say different ages as to when a baby becomes a toddler.

I moved over when this section was first created (Hannah was around 11 months old) as I felt the threads/answers etc. applied more to the stage we were at

I figure when they can toddle (walk) around, they are a toddler. That said, some kids walk very early (7 mos) and some quite late (18 mos or later) so a decent time to switch over would be around the one year mark as that's the average age of learning to walk.

I've just come over here. Recently I've found the threads in baby club to be so far in Byron's past that I can't answer anything much anymore! Byron doesn't toddle though, he doesn't even crawl!

Does he scoot, PeanutBean? Some babies scoot along on their bum for a while before walking. If he isn't able to move himself around in any way you might want to get him checked out by a doc to help him along in the process.

No he doesn't scoot. There's nothing wrong with him though, don't worry! He just wants to walk. He rolls a lot but mostly just wants to walk with us holding his hands, it's the only way he's happy.

I think I'm coming over. I check here more often, Finn can stand alone and walk pushing his little trolley, and a lot of the baby threads seem to be about milk and naps and things

I asked this a while ago and someone said at 18 months, but really, it's when you feel like your LO has moved along from being a baby. Gabbi is a todderl but a very young one.

Bit of subject, but other half says Gabbi isn't a baby anymore!!!!!! This came out when I was saying when we move to the new house, I want a gate at the bottom and top of the stairs (also one for the kitchen and her bedroom), he said not need at the bottomof the steps. So I said and what happens if you turn your back, she's halfway up, decides to come down and ends up coming head first????? He said she wont!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She's not a baby!!! Oh, frickin men!!! She'll always be my baby
