| Colic returned!! Advised to started weaning process again!!!! Ok brief background
Jacob had colic from birth and finally got told at 4 weeks old he was lactose intorlant (but could outgrown this) so was tried on vaires milks until sma lf suited him. Then we found out he had reflux so after a long winded thing with an op suggested he is stable on his med's and hasnt been really sick for about 5months now. Well jacob goes to the hospital every 2-4weeks to get checked by a dietition and peditrition. Well at 8months old they suggested slowly introducting milk products (not actual milk) to his diet as so we slowly intro'd things. Well at 12months(6 weeks ago) they suggested intoducing some milk 1 lil bottle a day or cup. So everything was going fine then 4 weeks ago running nappys started so back we went but got told it was a virus, then he started crying alot at night and getting really bad. All we kept getting was virus etc. Well the last week its got REALLY BAD! so went doc on tuesday, thursday gave stool samples for tests. Well last night jacob screamed all night. So this morning off we went to the hospital finally got seem, turns out Colic has returned, because a build up of lactose.
Appartently, his gut was working overtime to break down the lil bits from 8 months (at 9 he stopped sleeping through and went back to being awake ALOT he started at 6months once we got his weaning sussed and his reflux!) So after all the times they said it was teething that was causing him to wake again it must have been the lactose. Well not his gut has had enough and hence the last week he has been screaming alot high temp etc because he now CANT break it down. So my poor lil boy has had colic the last 4 weeks (at 13months old!!!) We have been advised to starve him of solids and milk until 10pm tonight and just give calpol and this solution they gave us which will try to break down whatever is in his gut, then for the next 3 days only give his Lactose free milk (no solids whatsoever!) Then to basically start the weaning process again (again at nearly 14months old) as his gut is so sensitive now we have to break it in gently so start with one small meal for a couple of days and build it up and to give lots of his milk for protien etc and he will get all he needs off that. And to give in a bottle and no cups to stop trapped air getting in.... But we were told to get him off the bottle so he was finally down to 1 a day so were going backwards!! Anyone ever experienced this?? we also have to keep a food diary cause they're scared it could be wheat aswell?!?!?
I feel like they rushed jacob with introducing milk now and its obvious (NOW) that its harmed him, we have to go back to weaning at this age. When jacob normally eats 3 meals a day plus snacks now were back to the start!?!?!
Ok rambling but feel so.....i dunno just upset for me poor boy! XxX | | | | Status: Offline

| Really sorry to hear this Got no advice about reflux but Jay still suffers from colic / wind and often wakes in the night at 14 months with trapped wind, and I hate him being in pain I feel like I've tried everything but it makes no difference...
Hope the docs suggestions help and Jacob gets better soon!!
