Just a little rant ... sorry ..

We were at the play group we go to every friday today, and a woman ive never seen there before ( i think she goes to the one they do on mondays which i dont go to) commented to me that her little boy had a "really nasty cold atm" i look at him and sure enough hes got snot all down his face etc.. anyway, maybe its just me but i dont see why people insist on taking an ill toddler to play with other toddlers.....? i bit my tongue but wish i had said something now
i know a cold isnt the end of the world and i dont stress out if he gets one but to me it just seems unreasonable to knowing mix an ill child with others...
a couple of months ago i kept Brody away from the group for 3 weeks running because he had a cold and then croup and i thought it would be wrong to take him, maybe im nuts but i kind of expected that other mums would use the same train of thought ...

anyway rant over now, sorry if it seems like nothing , just bugging me

Hun, I so agree with you (see my recent post). People are just so selfish, they don't think about the fact that you could have a reason that you can't allow your little one to get sick. And tbh it is a pain when they get a cold because some of them stop eating and don't sleep etc.
Some people are just fick wits!

if it's just a sniffle then I don't see the problem but if it's that bad then I think it's silly. When swine flu just started, this stupid girl brought her LO to the group I used to go to and sat down and started ranting bout how ill her child was. The nursery nurse was just like 'I think you need to take X home. Now' and when she'd gone antibac wiped everything. She's the least assertive nursery nurse normally but she was so firm, she needed to be, people can be such numpties lol.

Alasdair's been ill recently with different things and we've been to very little. We've been over to people's houses tho as if you know them you can check with your friend first about whether they want your kids germs lol

Ally gave conjunctivitis to his friend and a few weeks later his friend gave him a gift in return. Nits!

i just read your other thread hoping, and that is unbelievable too.

yeah if it was just a little bit of runny nose then thats one thing , but i just couldnt believe she was standing right next to me moaning about how ill her son was while he was playing around all the other kids, ah well what can you do ?

if you're kid is so ill that you are complaining about it than you shouldn't be going out to playgroups and exposing your child to others imo. It's really unfair to the others, I mean it's bad enough if a toddler gets sick but what if someone has a young baby there or at home?

I agree that a really poorly LO shouldn't be taken to playgroup, but a general cold doesn't bother me much as it normal for babies and toddlers to have cold around 6-8 times a year as they build up there amune system.

But when a lil has a high temp or bad cough etc I think they should stay in a couple of days anyway. What really gets my goat is when parents take there LO to playgroup/nursery when they have had an upset tummy or anything they know is contageous gggrrrhhh

If it is really bad then they should be kept at home anyway in the warm.

But if its just sniffles then i dont see the harm

But that little boy defianlty sounded bad bless him he needs to be at hoem in the warm and sleeping it off or cuddling up with mummy
xx

My biggest amazement is not so much that they mix them with other kids but they actually take them out and not keep them home and help them get over it...

When I have a cold, I stay home in bed for a few days until it gets down to less coughing and minimum sniffles so why in the world would I take my child out and force them to be active when a couple days home would do them the world of good especially with some TLC? Even playing at home where it's a bit more calm and not so crazy helps them rest some....

Okay, small sniffles and cough - no problem - fresh air would do good but like this where the child was obviously not feeling well.... just nuts in my opinion...

Agree totally. I look after my nephews for a few hours per week, but one of them has a really bad cold so i've told them not to come this week. Dont get me wrong i dont wrap my LO up in cotton wool she has to get colds etc sometimes but if you knowingly know a child is ill you dont want your own child exposing to it.

When Thomas was 4 months he caught a cold from an older baby at playgroup and ended up with bronchalitis for a month which was really nasty. I've got him home this week with a cough and don't take him to plagroup with germs as you just never know.
