Still rocking a 16month old to sleep

OUCH OUCH!!!
My arm is numb by the time shes asleep! I have been rocking her ever since she was born & I still am!
Its so hard now as shes heavier but she wont go to sleep otherwise.

I know it sounds like a copout but I really feel as if I havent got the energy or willpower to let her cry to sleep....

But what else can I do??

Please help ladies....

Maybe try lie down on your bed with her and stroke her back so that she will can feel her mommy next to her but you aren't have to hold the weight?

My son doesn't like to be rocked to sleep except when he is sick. It gets damn tiring.

Try and wean her off it. Instead of rocking to sleep, lie down with her and cuddle her to sleep (remember that crying in your arms is very different to crying without you), progress to sitting on the bed, then standing beside it. It'll take a while but does work.

I'm going through this too I have either

Fed her to sleep,
Rocked her to sleep,
Been in her carseat
or
In her pram

Never she's really gone to sleep on her own, also because i give in so easily she's started just taking the piss But a few days ago i just cracked, i put her in her cot and closed the door. I want to have another baby and i cant do that if she wont sleep She's SO stuborn it can take 3 hours of crying until she sleeps its so hard

Have just put her down for a nap (as she was up all night crying) It took her 1hr to cry to sleep....I feel like the most horrible person ever but i've tried every way possible.

I really hope you find a way to do it hun, but i've found that i'm being a worse mum becuase i'm so sleepy and always wondering how to get her to sleep..rather than knowing she's sleepy and putting her down

I would try staying with her till she is asleep. this is what we do with BRenn now, and while it make take him 30 minutes of wiggling, he does fall asleep on his own.

I've now found that if her daddy does it she just goes right to sleep. The only reason she wont with me is she doesnt want me to go away...?

I'll have to get DH to put Edward in his cot tomorrow night and see if it works for us. I usually nurse him to sleep and can't leave him to cry as he ends up making himself vomit or holds his breath (thankfully this is rare now)

I know how you feel. I rocked my son to sleep every single night (Even whilst full term pregnant with my daughter!)- god knows how I managed to carry him in his bed!

I finally stopped when he was 24 mths because I was finding it hard with a newborn aswell.

I think I had to sleep next to his cot for a while and just do the pick up put down method. It worked in the end. He is still alot more needy at night times than my daughter and he is 5 now!!!
