Winter Activities....

Most of mine and Caitlyn's daily things to do involved walks and parks and things outdoors. She doesn't like wind though, and with winter setting in she throws a fit if we're out and she's cold or it's windy. (High maintenence, I know.) So what can we do that doesn't cost money, or involve being outside? There's only so much time I can spend playing within the same 4 walls before I go insane. We go to soft play a lot normally but money is tight with Christmas so we've only been going once a fortnight.

Getting bored of painting and drawing and reading and flash cards.... I need some new activity ideas for winter, she's 18 months in just over a week. Ideas on a postcard girls! x

Me and Jacob have started playing hide and seek (mummy hides and shouts jacob until he finds me) Obv only lasts about 10-20mins

Im the same, so we go to activitys 3x a week like music mini's luckily paid for in advance in sept. BUT when we get home we get all the pots and pan's out and make 'music'?

What about baking? Me and jacob (well i made and jacob enjoyed playing with flour and making mess) made fairy cakes last week when we couldnt get out. Then we did the dishes and made even more mess attemping to wash

I try to envolve jacob in me housework when he is bored of playing. Takes 10x longer but he loves it like taking things out the washing machine and loading it (with everything including toys )

We also bring the duvet down stairs and make tents and take the pillows for obsticles and if any boxes lying around etc.

Not sure what else to suggest, when its raining me and jacob normally put on whellies and splash in the puddles in the cal-de-sac or find piles of leaves you can tell we look like the nutters in the street!!!!! XxX

Does your stroller come with a weather guard? Some kids can be fussy with them, but Claire's the same... hates any sort of wind on her face. Now that I have the weather shield she doesn't feel it and is happy to be out in less than stellar weather.

Are there any sort of play groups around? How about making her some playdough? The girls here posted a link to an edible kind that is safe for them. Other than that I'm tapped.

I'll be watching this thread to see other people's ideas for myself!

I've recently got rid of my car as can't really afford to run two at the moment (OH has other for work) and i am really missing taking her to play groups as i can't get there, other then getting two buses and it taking an hour and half I really think she should spend time with other LO's so me and my friends take in turn of going to one anothers houses once or twice per week. Thats the only thing we do really, going out wise and seeing other kids.

Like Caitlyn my LO loves being outdoors too and we usually go to the park for a walk, or at least for a walk to shops everyday but its getting too cold now.

Other then that its just playing together, reading, play roleing with her dolly's, drawing, helping me clean etc

I've found that a good hour of fun can be had just going to the supermarket or going window shopping (especially at the ELC!). Going somewhere on the bus, visiting a friend, going for a train ride, going to the library, going to the museum etc

Why don't you see if there's something you can take up for yourself and just leave Caitlyn to entertain herself for a while, it might help with the bored feeling
