Just out of curiosity....what do boosters over in the UK go to in weight? Ours rarely have ages listed on them it's about weight and height so I'm just curious how your "12 yr old" seats compare to what we have. What's the highest harness weight you would find over there?

it's done on height/age when they get older. It was only changed a few years ago. I think it's something like 120cm or 12 years, whichever the child reaches first. 127cm maybe. And when they reach either milestone they don't need a booster anymore. Until 4ish it's done on weight.

I originally got a 9m-12yr seat for Alasdair. It was in the sale but originally about £70ish so not cheap but not one of the really expensive ones. I've found though, that although it says it reclines a little, whenever he falls asleep, his head seems v.unsupported. For that reason I've now bought a birth-4yrsish one that seems to suit him better at the moment.

Wow really that's it? Where do they get the 12yr thing? That would only be 48-50in...my 6yr old who is very average in height is 47in lol...he'll surely be 50in by 8 max...more like within a year. Our boosters are mostly done by weight...like they go to 100lbs, but the ones with backs obviously the belt guide part needs to be by their shoulder so some kids will outgrow that part before really needing to be out of a booster. So then they'd do backless booster. Here the law is they have to be 4'9 or 8yrs old to not be in a booster. But my boys will have to pass this test no matter what before I let them out of the booster...just my personal preference, not law or anything

Weight that the boosters here hold won't ever be an issue for us because my kids are too skinny, I don't think they'll be 100lbs until they are teens haha.

I was a small person always- so I wasnt 5 foot(or rather 150cm ) yet when I was 12 . So I still had one until I was at 13 .(thats the rule here Youre either 1,50m or 12 years old to sit without anything, or to be allowed to sit in the front)

They have to be over 135cm, or over 12 - whichever comes first. So that's about 4ft 5?

Well it is different from country to country, I guess.
1,50 is just under 5 feet.

Hehe, it sounded like a good number! I have to admit I looked it up to get the right height as it sounded a little low.

I did have one that was 9months- 4 years but as I had a small car the height of the seat made it hard getting him in and out so when he was 2 and 3 months I brought the britax evolva which goes to 12 years, as it doesnt have a base it sits on the seat so made the gap to get him in bigger, would highly recommend this seat I love it he is now 4 and half but still has the harness as when we go on long journeys he looks so much comfier and safer also when he was 3 he had bad tantrums one time I put him on his sisters high back booster had a major tantrum and undone the seatbelt on a main road so hes stayed with a harness since then hes only just figured out how to undo the harness but now hes old enough to know better so doesnt undo it til we have parked.
