13 Months old and out of her crib!

Help!!

What do I do?! Last night my sister was babysitting as we had a medical emergency here, and H climbed out of her crib, opened her closet and pulled all of her clothes out of the dresser and was standing at the door crying.

She doesn't really understand words yet and will not sleep in my bed whatsoever.

I'm going to have to turn her crib into a bed eh? I don't want her to break her neck falling out of it. It is already on the lowest setting, but she is a giant baby and is really into climbing things right now.

Anyone else have this happen already?

not had the climbing out of the crib thing since we lowered it, by G climbs up couches onto the windowsill, on to chairs then stands up, almost slipped out of the bath the other day when i turned for a second to get the towel cos he was reaching for something over on the toilet. Kills me everytime i catch him doing it. So i;ve been teaching him how to get off the couch safely (which i can see he's learning as i saw him to do it once today without my helping). Don't know what to do about the chair though, as once he's up, he gets all pleased with himself and starts jumping. was complaining at my DH today, that it's one thing to babyproof cupboards and such but how do you do that to chairs and couches, can't exactly take them away!!! arghh, sorry i can't help, only advice is to try and teach it safely i guess, esp if they won't listen to no on this occasion.

I managed to get a lower, fairly massive cotbed and Alasdair (for now) can't climb out but it is absolutely terrifying! I didn't feel Alasdair would cope with being in a bed just yet. He climbs out of the bath, climbs up on to my parents dining room table, on to the back of the sofa. He's a little mountaineer...who scares his mummy half to death!

Hannah's a climber to but her bed must go pretty low because she's not even close to being able to climb out of it yet (despite numerous attempts). Let me know how the transition goes

We have also put Sean into a toddler bed (at 15 months).

We are strict though, he is NOT allowed climbing on tables or up the burglar bars. I saw a kid the other day who had climbed on the coffee table and fallen backwards and hit something. He had to have quite a few stiches in his head. We have however bought him a slide that he can climb up and quite often take him to special toddler play areas where he can climb to his heart content and if he falls its a soft landing.

His latest however is putting his soft toys about 1/2 metre from his bed and trying to jump onto them. Thinks its great fun.

I had friends who resorted to putting a mattress in front of the crib so if their son climbed out, he'd fall on something plushy. I can't say that I thought it was a good idea, but it worked for them.

Let me know how it goes too! Didn't Miss Jess have Josh in a toddler bed? Maybe she has some tips on how to get them to stay in?
