Sean is almost 18 months and compared to other toddlers that I know who are the same age, he is advanced. However he isn't as advanced as your girl so I seriously wouldn't worry.

For colours, I teach him with his shape sorters. eg put the orange one in the orange hole.

Don't let your mom tell you that you are teaching your child enough. She is so young and sounds like you are doing a fantastic job.

Pushing them too much can actually be detrimental, they will learn at their own pace. She sounds very similar to my friend's little girl at that age. she is now 20 months and she can count backwards from 10 to 1! they have no idea how, she just did it! She has proper sentences, but she is not yet walking so she has put all her energy into talking first. They all do different things at different times but by 4/5 they are starting to level out. Your little one is doing great :-)
