my friend ann her two kids got swine flu, they are aged 5 and 4 months. both kids coped really well with it but it was herself and her partner who suffered. ive had about 10 friends get swine flu and they are all fine so I dont think I will be getting it. dex has had about 3 colds, flu and gastroenteritis and he coped very well with them all.

Just thought I would add in this link, just because a kid is healthy doesn't mean that they are all capable of fighting the flu off. Who knows why some can and some can't but I couldn't take the chance with my kids that they are strong enough because they might not be, you just don't know.

My daughter had heres last week she's 5 had a sore arm for couple of days otherwise all good.

My boy got the go ahead on Monday from the paediatrician to have his done, so taking him tomorrow afternoon. Have to stay for an hour after tho, & take epipen just in case.

When they start on the under 5's my youngest will get.

I was talking to someone the otehr day whos nephew was in intensive care in Bristol with awine flu. Normally a fit & healthy little boy.

I have just had my 8yr old daughter vaccinated today, I was worried sick about doing it but figure I would rather take a possible risk with the vaccine than the definate risk of swine flu.
I asked my GP when I went in " Would you give this to your children" and he said he already had and had it himself, I felt happier knowing that.
There were also loads of people in the surgery having the jab incl other kids and pregnant women which reassured me as I am due to have mine in 2 weeks and am 17w preg.
Each to their own decision but I'm glad to have had it done and if they offer my 2 yr old she will get it too.

Myself, husband and our daughter all went for the vaccine last week and are all fine. I was offered it due to an illness I had a long time ago and because of this my husband and daughter were also offered it. I was a bit worried about giving it to Evie but asked the GP and he said the only side effects reported so far were just a sore arm. My arm was stiff for about 3 days but that was it, plus Evie was in a bit of a mood the next day! The GP did say though that Evie didn't really need the 2nd jab (that they advise for kids) as she would get enough immunity from 1 jab so not to put her through another.

Did the doc say anything else about the 2nd jab? My daughter had hers nearly to weeks ago and I was waiting for her to get her 2nd jab but was told that they would have to vaccinate all in the at risk group before she would be offered a 2nd jab.
