1 year old with many dodgy No. 2's! Yes, TMI, but need help

I put this in the Baby Club section but thinks it's better here. Will ask a MOD to remove the other posting. Hope you can help

Hi all

Not been on for ages, busy busy busy with 1 year old, work and house. You know how it is!! Cut a long story short, Gabbi is 13 1/2 months, she's doing fab, into everything, growing well, clever little so and so, healthwise she's great but over the last 2 weeks, she's been doing so many poos during the day and even at night (which hasn't happened in so long and hardly ever since she was born!) and also in the morning after her milk. She used to be like clock work (ever since I told a few people this, it's all gone to pot!), I had a rough idea, within a 30 min window when she would go. Ok, she's on pretty much any kind of food available, veg, meat, fruit, you name it, she's never had a problem. But these poos, TMI now, so if you don't want to read, turn off now!

They have been all colours, yellow, yellow and runny, brown and runny, dark brown and bitty, hardly any are solid. It's got the point where even OH has said to see if anyone on the forum could shed light on this. He said that we will give it a few more days and then take her to the docs, but don't want to go if it could be teething or just her body getting shut of food! I don't know, but sometimes, her bum is so sore, today is one of the days. Her first 2 this morning were the quite big and runny, but the third and 4th have left her crying because it hurts her when I'm cleaning her. I feel for her so much, she had nappy rash as a baby very rarely, it's only the past few weeks she's been suffering with it, maybe it's acidy or something, I really don't know. She has no temperature, not off her food, in every other way she's absolutely fine, just her back end!

Has anyone else had this problem???

We took her for urine and blood tests a couple of weeks ago (it's a standard thing here in Bulgaria, think every 6 months) and they said to OH, in their words, Gabbi is perfect!! So if something was going to show up, would it have shown up then?

Any info you can give would be great, but think we'll take her to the docs anyway.

Chloes poo went haywire when she had worms. Much more frequent and sometimes very strange looking, when you looked you could see worms in the poo though....??
Hope you get to the bottom of it.

Didn't think of that. I've not seen anything (you mean the tiny think white worms??), seen plenty of sweetcorn and peas but no worms. I will check a little closer (oh what a lovely job!) to see if I can see any.

Hey chick

I could have wrote this myself, Oh took jacob doc's today as im working and apparently its due to him teething, BUT gabbi could be diff so if concerned check with a doc. Jacobs has caused really bad nappy rash but doc said this normal as he is getting his molars at the back so this is all part of it on his behalf, like io say gabbi could be diff

Jacob also has a cough which is why i was concerned but this is mucus from teething. He just said lots of fluids and as long as he is eating well and doesnt seem in pain (bar nappy changes) then to just ride it out.

XxxX

Hey Ema

She's been like this for about 2 weeks, one minute her bum is fine then breaks out and weepy in places. I hate cleaning her bum but it's got to be done, she jumps and squeals, it brings a tear to my eye too! She only has 5 teeth, well, I say 4 1/2!

I have even started making a note of every time she does a No. 2 and what it's like to see if I can see a pattern. So far, there's nothing I can put my finger on. I actually hope it's teething.

OH rang our local doc but got no reply so will ring her tomorrow and ask her what she thinks. Gabbi has no temp or ill (no cough), so maybe you are right. Fingers crossed.

have you thought it may be toddleer diarrhoea, my son had this about the same age and it went on for ages and then almost the day he acme out of nappies he stopped. We went to a dietician who told us to reduce the amount of apple juice and juices in his diet - he hardly had any at all but we did, we tried milk free diets, gluten free etc etc nothing really changed it - just nature i guess as it all just suddenly stopped when he was out of nappies. I know this is not very helpful but some people i know have been helped by cutting out juice etc. Maybe ask your Dr about toddler diarrhoea or google it.

I hope whatever it is it gets better really soon XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Gabbi only has water! I have been given a link to a page about toddler diarrhea and it could very well be this! I have given her some porridge this morning with fruit, let's see how we go on today!

Well, Gabbi woke this morning, at 3 ish, after 5 mins heard a loud pump, but then I knew it wasn't just a pump!!!!! Changed her, oh it was huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuggggggggggggggggggeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, so bloody much!!! Then again, a smaller one at 7.15am. She has onyl ever gone in the night (since she's been on solids) about 3 times and now twice in the last week!!!!

Anyway, OH talked to our kiddie doc yesterday (we can only go to her if referred, but she lives in our village and said she'd pop round!!!! Top!) She said that when toddlers are teething, their poos can change, but she also said to try giving her more drier food, food with not much water/liquid in it.

Apparently, she also said to cut down on her food a little, to see whether that helps her body deal with whatever it is. Not a diet, but rather less food but feed more often. We will experiment today
