| Testing a remedy out for coughing Read this a few times on the internet: Quote: |
To stop nighttime coughing in a child put Vicks Vaporub generously on the bottom of the feet at bedtime, then cover with socks.

| nope but have you tried honey and lemon mixed with water? it was suggested to me several times by different people when Hannah was coughing badly last week (unfortunately I can't tell you if it works or not, Hannah wouldn't touch the stuff ) | | | | Status: Online

| The vicks plug in did help quite a bit so maybe there is some truth to it? | | | | Status: Online

| He was up a little less last night and is still sleeping right now. Perhaps there is some truth to it.

| On their feet?!
I've been putting it on her chest... still waking up coughing and crying for what feels like ALL night!
Very intrigued to know if it works! If so, she'll be smothered in it! | | | | Status: Offline

| Thing is, on the Vicks rub it says not to use on children under 2. So I haven't been. I always thought that it might be because it's burning or irritating to their skin.
However, I put it on his feet and just a tiny tad on his chest (even though you're not supposed to) last night. Thinking about it more, he only woke up once from 7-7:30 this morning. That actually is really good! | | | | Status: Offline

| When we use it on Amelia we rub the vicks on her vest so its not actually on her skin, maybe you could try that if you didn't want to put it on their skin?
Never heard of putting it on their feet before, does that work in the same way as rubbing garlic on your feet makes your breath smell?! | | | | Status: Offline

I never heard of it either but was googling "hacking coughs in toddlers" and saw this remedy a few times. Supposed to work on adults too.
Googling into it more now and there's been no research that it for sure works or doesn't work, but did find a site where many people say they have tried it and it does.
I'd like to see some other people try it to see if it actually does work. LOL | | | | Status: Offline
