What a long three weeks

So, as mentioned, Chase has been sick. He caught a cold three weeks ago and still had it when he then caught the flu bug. He was sick with that for a few days this week and is now over it, but his cold hasn't subsided.

Brought him to the doctor this week and everything was fine - chest was clear, ears were fine - and they took a swab of his throat to see if it was strep. The least the frigging doctor could do was phone me with results. This was on Tuesday and he said the results would be in by Friday. No call.

But seriously, he's got a bad cough and I think something needs to be done about it. When Amanda was a baby all I had to do was bring her in, say she wasn't eating and about her symptoms and they would put her on antibiotics. Nowadays, they don't prescribe antibiotics very often.

However, I seriously think he needs to go on them. As my doctor said, three weeks is a long time for child to be sick. Yeah, no shit!

Also a long time for mommy with sleepless nights and a consistent baby wanting up in her arms every second of the day. (Yep, the clinginess is even worse.)

Terrible, isn't it? I feel so badly for him. Think I will bring him to a walk-in clinic and see what kind of results I get there. I know my own doctor is closed next week as they are giving the H1N1 vaccinations.

Yet, my back hurts so often and today I can't even move my neck to the left as I seemed to have hurt it lifting him up so much. LOL

Hi the exact same thing happened to us. Toby was ill for around 3-4 weeks. I kept taking him back and forth to the doctors as he had such a bad cold and cough which didnt go away they kept saying it was viral and to give him calpol. I had to keep cancelling his jabs etc as he was so poorly. I ended up taking him back to the doctors and saw a different doctor who checked his chest and said that he had a really bad chest infection and sent me over to hospital for an xray! He was then on antibiotics for 2 weeks. I would take Chase back and ask to see a different doctor he obviously needs something to help him get over it. I hope he is feeling better soon xx

Mine is generally a good doctor and I've had him for 10 years. But lately, even with my own health issues, I've seen that he's lost some compassion. I guess he's not some little time doctor anymore and that usually makes them more in a hurry.

glad he is over the worst of it hun
after a cold recently Brody had croup , which is apparently very common in lo's after they have a cold ( just thought it worth a mention just incase)
not sure if it was you i told this before or not , i dont think it was but anyway just putting it out there incase you want to google it to find out more, could just be a lingering cough form the cold and flu though ... poor little guy
