| Brushing Teeth Up until this week, Valerie used to love having me brush her teeth. She would gladly open her mouth real wide and let me brush them for however long it took. At the beginning of this week, I started to notice that her top molars were coming in (bottom ones have been in for awhile now). Now when we brush her teeth, she screeches and desperately scratches at me to stop and get the toothbrush out. My husband says it sounds like I'm hurting her, but with all the candy she's been eating (from Halloween) I've really been trying to get a good brushing in. I swear I'm not doing it hard at all, I'm doing it the same as I always have. Is it possible it's hurting her since the molars are coming in and if so, what have you done to get through it? If it's not the molars, why all the sudden change in how she feels toward brushing teeth? | | | | Status: Offline

| Hannah did the same with her molars though all four of hers came in at the same time so she hated having top and bottom brushed! We just persevered because it's important that her teeth get brushed.......it got better once her molars finished cutting. Have you tried giving her the toothbrush after you're done brushing to let her brush to? Sometimes that makes Hannah more cooperative (she knows she can't have the toothbrush until we're done brushing) | | | | Status: Offline

| Thanks, Vickie! I have a feeling it has something to do with her molars...definitely. Yes, I usually give her the toothbrush after we're all done and then she's immediately happy and stops screaming/crying. It's just getting through the brushing that is bad. I have to literally have my husband hold her down while I brush. Lol! We will just keep doing it and hopefully those molars come in quickly! | | | | Status: Offline

| When Brenn started fighting me on brushing his teeth, I handed the brush to him. He will happily 'brush' his teeth for an hour. Granted he is just chewing on the brush, but I figure it is better than nothing. I would rather him be happy doing it himself than him hate it altogether with my doing it and forcing him. | | | | Status: Offline

| A friend also said her dentist recommended this spray for her 17 month old. I will email her and ask what it is. | | | | Status: Offline
