Anyone else's 1 year old have temper tantrums?

Lucy has gone from being such a well behaved little girl to having serious temper tantrums just in the space of a few short weeks

She is impossible to get dressed, tries biting me, has headbutted me really badly on a couple of occassions and kicks and screams when I try to dress her. As for getting her nappy changed, thats near on impossible as she rolls over, kicks and screams.

When she has a tantrum because I say no or in another situation I just ignore her and let her get on with it, but I have to dress her and change her nappy so what can I do to make her stop? Any ideas will be greatly appreciated!

Ive tried giving her something to play with which worked really well for about a week... then she cottoned on to the fact I was trying to distract her! As soon as she sees me with a nappy in my hand she runs away!

Will try the tv thing though! xx

Normally when I change my son I give him milk to distract him or else he will run away or throw a fit.

Marley has the occasional temper tantrum. It's generally when she wants to do something she's not allowed to do and other people are around. She's been getting alot better though because we just ignore her which at the time makes her angrier but I think now she's just given up. We used to have a battle at diaper changes and she too quickly lost interest in being distracted by toys so now I try to sing silly songs to her or tickle her etc. I find getting her to help me calms her down too, like I will ask her to hold the rash cream bottle for me and let her hold the clean diaper.

We also get our son to help, makes it easier. Its now a game for him to find his feet through the pants and to find the holes to put his arms through etc.

zanes the same but if he needs to get dressed or i need to change his bum i let him scream and get on with it then after he gets a hug or i stick adverts on and he shuts right up and watches them so i can get things done.

but if he doesnt get his own way like wanting something hes not allowed or wont go in his pram cuz he wants to walk i just ignore him till he gets bored of screaming or i give him some juice or a dummy to try n calm him down.

Hi there, my daiughter is exactly the same (17 months). probably has around 10 tantrums a day at least were she kicks about and rolls on the floor and punches herself and me, butts the furtniture, smashes toys on the floor etc etc the list is endless haha but I did find a trick to nappy time. We always sing incy spider when I lie her down, I made up a stupid routine and tickle her belly like trickling water, and exagerate every word and facial expression as much as possible hahaha then when Ive finished singing, she gives me a round of applause and I carry on singing while she lets me clean her bum :-) Give it a go, its my lifesaver xx
