AJ will sit agains the wall and deliberatly bang his head???
Surely its got to hurt but he continues to do it and smiles.

Anyone had any experience of this??

yup, i've seen kids in our day care do that, sitting in a row, all banging their head for a while
we tried to stop them but they just did it again when they had a chance, then we let them

Toby does that alot, I do worry about the condition of his head sometimes!! I think the bump sounds alot worse than it is!! Hoping he will grow out of it, think he likes the attention!

^^ there's your answer then, if you (or anyone else) don't give him attention anymore
it will most likely stop

Emm does sometimes, I think it is just experimenting with sensation, sometimes frustration and sometimes if she's bored/ not getting enough attention.

I agree I think it sounds alot worse than it actually is.

Yeah, sounds like experimenting with sensation, he went through a phase of pulling his own hair, still does occasionally.

Not sure about the doing it for attention part, as I move AJ away (the only attention he gets when doing it) and we carry on playing.

My boy did it when he was months old, i said to the midwife because i was really worried he had something wrong with him but she actually told me that it is a sign of intelligence!!!!!!!!! She said that although they have lots of toys to play with etc they get bored and do this!!!!!
So there you go, we have clever children!!!! x
