Anyone's child had swine flu?

If so, can you tell me the symptoms?

Chase is sick with cold and what-not, but it's Jayden I am concerned about.

He's complained of a headache on and off this week, more in the evening but was still active. He's also been doing a bit of dry coughing. Yesterday he went to a friend's house after school, but his headache really hurt him and he just laid there on their couch.

I went and got him and gave him tylenol and he fell asleep. Gave him some more when he woke up hours later. He was moaning in his sleep and woke up on and off all night. He is coherent when he wakes up. Sometimes he feels a bit warm but not a raging fever. He also says his tummy bugs him.

It's almost noon now and he's sleeping.

In the past, he has had a headache proceeding the flu but has not thrown up. Which, by not throwing up makes him feel worse.

So it is a normal flu, is it a head cold, or the dreaded swine flu?

EDIT: He woke up and says his nose and head hurts, but not his tummy.

The problem is unless they do an actual test u will never know whether its swine flu or normal flu...

My poor daughter had it & her symptoms were- Temp of 39(ish), puffy eyes, runny nose & generally not herself....

I'd take Chase to the docs & get him checked out- if need be then they can give him a course of tamiflu- that starts working really quick!

Hope he gets better

Leanne it was on the news that if you have the flu, you can bet it's H1N1 because it is the only flu going around here right now. They aren't even testing for it now from what I understand.

I'm near you, and I know quite a few people that have had it. A co-worker is off right now with it, and her 7 year old daughter is just starting to get over it. She had vomiting, the poops, aches and pains. I'm not sure what else but I'll try to find out.

I've been hand sanitizing like crazy! I don't want my little one to get sick, plus I'm pregnant. I hate colds and flus.

Hope your little ones feel better soon!

Jayden is better now...he was after 3 days and just as I was about ready to bring him to the doctor.

Chase has a bad cold but not lethargic but it's been going on 5 days and I will be taking him in today to make sure all is well.

What I was concerned about is Jayden's friend's mom thinks she had it, and her brother does have it and he does drop his son at their house to be babysat each day. So, in some ways, Jayden was in proximity to the virus by going to his friend's house.

Thanks for your input ladies.

We all had it here in MN

My four kids and I all had it. Our symptoms varied somewhat but in general we had fevers (though about 10% don't get fevers, I've heard), really bad body aches, severe fatigue, and a cough as it progressed. My 9 y/o daughter also had a stomach ache and threw up but the rest of us didn't.

My 9 y/o and I got it first before I got my treatments in the mail and made up, but by the time the other kids got it we had made up elderberry syrup and they took that liberally. It's an excellent anti-viral and studies have shown it more effective than Tamiflu. I also gave them Oscillo and they seemed to get over it much quicker than usual. The worst of it was over in 2 days, and I think it's usually more like 4-6.

You do have to be careful with fatigue and coughs that last way longer for some though. It was nearly a month before my energy level was back and I developed a scary cough and a fever that came back. I coughed so hard I threw up one night and came close to going to the ER but I honestly wanted to stay away from hospitals because so many people were getting sicker from secondary infections and they are so rampant there. In my case I know a lot of it was not resting because I was taking care of kiddos, so do make sure to get rest and make sure the kids rest!

Hope that helps.
