What do you do when a 1 year old tantrums?

Yep you read right! a 1 year old!

Well she is 13 months now but she has the tantrum skills of a 2 year old.

She did it today when we were in town and I had to put her back in her buggy after lunch, and she is doing it right now with a boots catalogue because the pages wont stay open
She screams and bites whatever is annoying her, it is all over in a matter of minutes but she is really loud and screams the place down!!

Do you ignore it or say quite loud "no" any advice would be great!

Gemma didnt really tantrum much in her early years, she has saved it all up for now (shes nearly 14) so I dont really know what to do!

Oh she has finished now! and is laughing again!

Paige had one 2nite when i got her out the bath

Slightly different as i had to get her dry etc, so i just ignored her got her dressed and did her hair, looked her in the eye told her she was being naughty and then lay her on the bed to carry on, so stopped after a couple of minute's. For all other instances out and about or at home, i look her in the eye tell her she is being naughty and then just ignore her

Good luck Paige has been doing this for about 4-5 months and i doubt its going to stop anytime soon

Helena does too, she goes limp if I pick her up when she is having one or she throws herself on the floor. She has even stamped her feet once! (I couldn't help but laugh that time)

I don't know either. I say "No!" but that is usually what causes it in the first place. If I am at home I try to put her in a time out spot which of course does nothing, she just crawls out and carries on.

Yeah we try to redirect before it gets to bad but otherwise ignore. If that doesn't work we put her in her crib and leave her until she calms down. (her pacifiers are in there so it's a quick fix)

I'd keep a playpen nearby and if she's getting at other people, stick her in it. If she's just on her own and not hurting anything or anyone, then I'd ignore.

best to ignore it,giving them attention is like rewarding their bad behaviour.
