Thanks for looking into that for me.!I think I know where the problem is now, I am in the US and it's totally not available here so I think the information I have about merck discontinuing it is just for the US only. I guess Soni pastures just maufactures the separate shots for outside the continent. Wow, sorry about the confusion. It's good to know that it's still being manufactured, but I wonder how I can get ahold of the separate shots? I mean, is it possible or am I stuck getting my child the full MMR? Which I won't do until she is at least school age. I am currently pregnant and don't know what I am having so hopefully the separate shots will be available by the time I decide to vaccinate both my children.

I am not worried about the people saying it causes autism. I am more worried about the side effects which could be really severe. Same as with some of the other vaccines.

That's a red flag to me that something is up!

No problems I guess maybe a years long vaccation to UK is in the offing if u can't get single jabs in US.

Over here there was a lot of controversy with mmr causing autism & bowl & digestive problems but that was "discredited".

When we were deciding on which way to go they were saying children with family history of allergy are more likely to have adverse response. I get eczema, OH gets hayfever & there is history in my family of asthma. As it happpens my boy has allergy problems & asthma & eczema so for him I'm convinced we madw the right choice.

Over here babies get so many shots. I know with my last lo there was an extra one which meant she was gonna have jabs in one day, but our nurse at the time did 2, then delayed the other 2 for a month or so. I'm hoping I can do that again, but I really don't like this new nurse & not sure she'll do it.

When is your lo due ?

Edward will be getting it but we have decided to hold out until he is at least 15months. The way I figure IF there is a risk of it causing autism (which the autism society say there is not) I would rather deal with that than my son contracting a potentially fatal disease. Speaking to the nurse last week and my in laws who work at the local university hospital there has been a big increase in measles and mumps cases being admitted

yeah, the schedule is out of control and I don't like the idea of giving a baby all these shots especially since their brain is still growing. Oh, I am due in July

I'm mot against vaccinating children, but only against serious life threatening diseases.

I can understand your concern over hep b, what a stupid philosophy.

Bubbles I don't blame u for hanging on b4 vaccinationg your lil man. I feel unless they are goig to nursery/day care & in contact with lots of other children then is it really necessary to vaccinate so early.

When I was younger there was no mmr, I had measles vaccine when I was around 2, and also mumps, polio, whopping cough & tetanus. I wasn't even vaccinated for ruebella until just b4 I started secondary school & it was only the girls they vaccinated.

I feel like we are in a dictatorship now tho and we have no freedom of choice. I don't want my children to go unvaccinated but would prefer the option of combined or single. I will give the new baby the mmr & my youngest will have the booster unless drs suggest otherwise, but I feel its something I've been forced into doing.

I do wonder tho if some of these nasty bugs that are about are because we are overly vaccinating our kids & now obsessed with killing every possible germ & bug going with anti bac sprays & cleaners etc. It is also a possibilty as to why there is an increase in allergies 'cos we are super clean the immune system has nothing to fight so turns on itself.

Those that are concerned about the MMR causing Autism, which ingredient in particular is it that is the worry one? There were concerns about mercury in thiomersal causing Autisum but it has never been proven and there isnt any thiomersal in the MMR. Thiomersal is present in some other routine childhood immunisations so if thats the bit that concerns you then you need to look into the others as well.

Out of interest, is there anyone on this thread that wants separate MMR jabs but has had the swine flu jab? I am only asking as I am the opposite, I was comfortable with other jabs but am really unsure about the swine flu vaccines.

It was just my own thinking that maybe the overload of thiomersal plus three immunisation in one was just too much for some lil ppl to cope with. Most if not all of our vaccines are thiomersal free I'm thinking maybe its not an issue. We seemed to be the only country reporting problems all be it tin the media, yet countries giving thiomersal free vaccines didn't seem to be having problems.

im not getting leyla the mmr, i dont personally think its necessary and has too many risks, i considered getting her them seperately but the mumps jab has been discontinued so we will be getting her the measles jab seperately as this is the dangerous illness out of the three, but no deffo wont be getting her the mmr

If this lo is a girl i'm tempted to just opt for sep measles & rubella jabs. Don't forget that rubella protection is vital for girls hunni.

But if its a wee man we not got much choice but to go for mmr.

HAve u goggled risks of mumps in girls. I must do it to check if there are any nasty side effects I'm not aware of.

All 3 of mine have had it. Nieve had hers last week and was fine. My 5 yr olds were delayed for 6 mths when he was due his, but that was under a consultants orders as he was having a lot of tests done ( eegs and ecgs) as he was having seizures. Once they diagnosed him, he was allowed it. He was fine with the first but the booster one bought on a fit as his temp rocketed, but thats down to his condition more than the actual jab.
