Pregnant with no2 - Need advice for no.1

Hi, I'm about 8 weeks pregnant with baby number 2 and I need some advice on how to deal with/prepare my (19 month old) daughter.

1 - We only have 1 cot in the house and ideally I'd like to not have to buy another so was thinking of moving her over to a bed. She's fully mobile so its not a huge problem other than I dont think she'd stay in the bed.
I want to start on it sooner rather than later as I dont want to be fat while dealing with it or have a newborn to deal with at the same time.

2 - potty training. I know its early but is it worth starting with her now? She has a potty and has done for a while and she likes sitting on it but has never used it, if you know what I mean.

Thanks all

How do you deal with making them stay in bed though?

My problem is that I think if I give her a bed she'll get out of it and play with her toys.

I would move her to the bed now too, to get her to stay in maybe make a routine where she cleans up all her toys before bed, so that way they are all put away, not as tempting. But if she does get up, and I'm sure she will, just keep putting her back in bed, she will get the idea.

For potty training it really depends on her, does she seem ready? If she doesn't I really wouldn't push it and I would give her time and maybe a couple months after the baby is born then start. Because if you do it and she finishes say a few weeks before the baby is born, she very well could regress and stop, and that would be even more frustrating. If she seems ready now and does it pretty quickly I'm sure she'd be fine. Casen potty trained at 25mo, that was about 4mo before my youngest was born and he was fine

Well I'm not sure.

She doesn't give us any idea that she needs a wee and if you ask her she says no then 2 mins later is weeing on the carpet. lol.

So I spose she's not ready but yet she hates having a nappy on and gets really naggy when its dirty.

Thanks for all these.

What kind of bed is best for a first bed then? I'm assuming I'm going to need to get those barriers for the side but is there a specific type of (budget ) bed that I should be looking.

1. You could co-sleep with the baby, that way your toddler can stay in the cot that she's in now. Or you can move her to a bed, at her age she should adjust well.

2. If she's not ready to be potty trained, then she's not ready. I would wait until she starts showing signs that she is ready to start learning. The whole, girls are easier, is really a myth. Each child is different. It depends on their personality, their taking to the process, and how prepared they are for it. Kids won't be come fully learned until 3 or 4 years of age when they are biologically ready for it.
