Tantrums - At a loss.

I've tried cuddles.
I've tried ignoring it.
I've tried telling her off.
I've tried distraction.

Nothing works and I'm fed up of being hit and kicked by a 1 year old

I feel your pain. We're in the same place with that at the moment.
Ive got a bruised face from being headbutted yesterday by Ophelia!
I think the most important thing is just to stick one method of 'discipline' and sticking with it.Ive quickly learned that telling her off is not working for us and just makes her more angry and frustrated. So I'm doing the ignoring her, showing her she wont get a strong reaction from it and if she's really bad picking her up and moving her to somewhere else til she's calmed down.
It will pass Toria, thats what everyone is reminding me at the moment. You and Caitlyn will get past this. xx

I would love to know how to stop it, My 1yr old has bad tantrums that usually end up with her hurting herself as she throws herself back. It is very hard sometimes and i have tried everything too.

Is she still in a cot? does she have a travel cot? If she is physically hurting you i would be inclinded to put her in either of the former, until she has calmed down.

Jess, that is exactly what we do, too. Once Valerie starts to throw a tantrum, I put her down on the ground and walk away. She has a fit, but I stay strong and do not go near her or pick her up until her tantrum is done and over with.

Yep same. It was hard at first, but I found not paying attention to him is the best thing to do. He fallows me once in a while and grabs my legs while screaming, he will he me too. I just take him off and bring him away and walk off again. No talking, no nothing. I noticed a little difference now !

Josh never cries for more than about 2-3 minutes. If he's really upset he will cry at the same time as playing and will be frustrated But in all, it never last more than about 5 minutes.
