Swine Flu advice...help please??

I did a thread yesterday on how my little man woke up after his morning nap with a crazy runny and stuffy nose. He is still the same today...with a slight cough now Also he seems to be eating well however since yesterday some of it has been coming back up...and a slight fever of 37.5, apart from this he seems well.

I contacted the swine flu assessment and information line, they have told me to take tamiflu for him. But i asked them would it actually be swine flu if he is his normal self, playing as usual etc...he was even dancing a min ago He said he wasn't sure.

I would rather not give tamiflu if he hasn't got it...what would you do?? Im actually thining of calling my GP about it first xx

My lil boy the same, he has what seems to be a really bad cold and last night a temp of 37.4, he was taking his feeds fine, was sick once after last feed last night, today he is still bunged up, with a cough, however his temp is down and he has kept his feeds down.
Think theres alot of confusion over the symptoms of swine flu, i was really confused didn't know wether to ring helpline or not....luckily he not so bad today, got my smiles back xx

I totally agree with you hun...my LO's temp wen back to 37.5 so i called them again, they advised me to call NHS direct for some advice. I was told by the nurse to go and get some tamiflu for him because of his temp fluctuating. So i have done but im still not convinced. Better safe then sorry i guess...

Glad your LO is better now hun xxx

From what I understand from the people I know that have had it and from the advice the doctor gave to us, ....swine flu doesn't develop over a day or two it hits very fast within hours of 1st symptoms and a very high fever. 37.5c is only a tiny bit warmer than the normal 37c and not classed as a fever so I wouldn't worry too much about swine flu. It may have been because it's quite warm today or another bug brewing but if it was swine flu you'd know about it by now (or so I was told by the GP)

Hope he's ok

i agree with hevz. 37.5 isnt classed as fever, only over 38, most people will deal with it like any old flu and will get over it fine, try not to worry too much xxxx

Thanks girls...well tbh thats what i thought but the nurse from NHS direct said because it had been going on since yesterday and i was keeping it down using calpol it is better being safe than sorry...also with him being a little warmer for the last 2days it wasn't worth the risk...xx
