Few questions about food

Rory is nearly 6 months and he's gonna be on solids soon so I have a few questions. I wanna do BLW and have been reading that apart from a few things they can have pretty much anything that I eat, does this mean straight away? Like can I give him bread and pasta and things? How much of what he eats should be fruit and vegetables? Most of it? Oh and can I give him ReadyBrek or does it have to be baby porridge?

Oh and LO won't drink from a sippy cup, do I give him bottles of water with his meals or is milk fine?

I did blw with my two so hopefully i can help :P

To start with just give him soft things he cwn hold as he wont eat much right away. Thinks like really soft boiled veggies in chunks he can hold, rice cakes etc.
Then as he starts eating more, try him with new things.

I started by just offering a bit of what we were having for dinner. Id just chuck a few bits on the highchair tray and let them play with it

Its normal for them not to eat much and maybe 'choke' a few times, but i highly recommend it.
it only took a few weeks of my two getting used to how to feed themselves before they really started having proper meals. ,

I love it because they've always been really good at using cutlery and things as id just serve it up like i would with myself ; on a plate with plastic forks etc. Once they got used to eating.

We did purees from 4 months but she started and stayed on solid food from 7.5 months on. Just start with soft foods, things that they like. I started by roasting apples and pears in the oven. It makes them very tender but thicker than applesauce to the point where they can pick the little chunks up but they smush easily in their mouth. I steamed a lot of vegetables because that too makes them soft. I'd give her little bits of what we were eating. Little pieces of bread (she still adores it).

We are most likely going to BLW with the next but if he/she wants to eat before 6/7 months then I will probably end up doing my own purees again until I feel he/she can pick the food up and eat it without choking (around 6-7 months). It works fantastic. Em has always eaten very well, starting early with solid table foods helped regulate her meals, helped her learn quicker how to feed herself and around a year we started giving her baby spoons/forks just to play with an get used to and now at 14 months she can correctly use her spoon (although she still loves playing with it and eating with her hands )

You might get more responses in Natural parenting hun hope this helped a little.

Well at the moment I give him chunks of fruit and vegetables. I know he isn't 6 months yet but I did a lot of research on it first and it seems to work for us. Anyway he has chunks of tomato and apple and kiwi and sweet potato and carrot a couple of times a day and loves it, though he plays with it more than eats it. I don't know if I should keep him on fruit and vegetables though or whether meat and carbs are okay from six months?

Around the new year I started toast, I know you're not supposed to give bread and stuff before 6 months, but yeah, I did. Toast is her favourite thing. I started around Christmas time offering her a piece of butternut squash from my dinner, or a slice of pepper/bit of broccoli. But that was all, just a teeny bit every other day or so. Only now I offer food every day

Yeah we're doing the same, just a bit every day to get him used to it but he loves it! Might try him with a tiny bit of pitta bread then, he's around the same age Isla was

Max loved his toast! And he loved his pasta. He still does. We have him manageable bits of whatever we had.
