I started having pains on Friday night but convinced myself they were just braxton hicks. I had my show on Saturday morning but then the contractions slowed down so I was convinced things weren't really kicking off. However, by Saturday evening they were really painful and it was horrible through the night. I got through them with plenty with paracetamols, hot baths and my OH massaging me (:


By Sunday morning they were really intense and close together but when I rang the hospital I was told not to come in until they were two minutes apart I was having a painful contraction on the bed and was on all fours with my OH massaging my back, moaning loudly when I felt a popping sensation and my water broke everywhere! That's when things really kicked off and suddenly the contractions were coming every two minutes and were unbearable.


I tried to get in the bath but the pain was so bad that I put on the first clothes I could find, didn't bother with any make-up or even brushing my hair, grabbed my hospital bag and my OH drove us to the hospital. I was literally screaming through every contraction on the 20-minute journey and OH was speeding all the way there and getting very angry and impatient at other drivers.

We got to the hospital and I was checked- I was already 7cm! I was given gas and air which was lovely (it's instant drunkeness!) but soon it wasn't really doing anything as the contractions grew stronger.


Things got a bit scary when my baby's heart rate kept dropping and wasn't picking back up and suddenly I was put in a hospital gown and rushed into the theatre with about seven members of staff, and was told they needed to get him out asap with either a c-section or a forceps delivery. I'd had the gas and air taken off me and was screaming through each raw contraction, not really taking in anything they were saying and barely noticed my OH wasn't with me.



I was lifted onto the bed, had my feet put in the stirrups and told they were going to get the baby out with the forceps. They needed to perform an episiotomy (ouch!) so I was rolled onto my side and had a spinal injection in my back by the doctor. To suddenly go from having intense contractions with no pain relief to feeling numb was total bliss, I can't describe the amount of relief I felt. My OH appeared by my side in a blue surgeons gown and hat (wish I'd got a picture! ) and I remember the midwife looking down at me telling me to push, I pushed two or three times and looked up to see my OH in tears and suddenly my baby boy was placed on my chest. 50 minutes after arriving at the hospital, Oliver Nathaniel was born on the 8th January and 11:25am weighing 6 pounds 3 ounces (:



Everything is going really well and I love being a mummy (: The episiotomy wound was agony for the first week and I could barely even walk or sit down and OH was doing most of the baby care (it made me feel silly for moaning about discomfort when I was pregnant) but two weeks on it feels so much better and hardly hurts. Oliver has taken nicely to breastfeeding and already put on a pound in ten days, he seems to get bigger every day. xx

And here is my 40-week bump and PP belly (: It's not quite the same as pre-pregnancy but I'm really happy with how well it's going down, probably because I didn't have a very big bump at all. xx

Aww. I just got tears in my eyes! Think it was to do with your OH in tears, always gets me He's so cute. Well done on getting to 7cm without hardly any pain relief! Sorry you had to have an episiotomy though! Glad it's healing. Congrats
