The thing you have to remember is that your not on benefits because you want to be. Ignore any negative comments you get.

My OH lost his job and I've just finished uni so atm we're living off my maternity pay and his incapacity benefit due to a bad back. Having to get by on benefits for a while sin't nice but a lot of people have to do it. x

You're not a stereotype your just another person to be screwed over by the damn credit crunch x

I think at the moment people have to make allowances for what this damn credit crunch has done!So many people that otherwise wouldn't (as you have seen) are having to claim benefits. It is not your fault and you are not the teen stereotype because you want to change things, youre not happy claiming benefits.Chin up chica x
Where in Devon are you from by the way?x

You being on jobseekers and applying for council housing is no reason for anyone to look down on you at all - those things are available to help out people who are in your situation, who have no other choice, and it's nothing to be ashamed of. You have obviously studied hard and done well in life so far, and would work if you could. If you'd got yourself pregnant just so that you could apply for housing and benefits that would be different, but you should be proud of yourself for doing everything you can to look after yourself and your family at a difficult time - please don't be down about it

You and your boyfriend both have plenty of time in the future to get the jobs and life you want when things are a bit more stable.

x

Sterotypes are just for judgmental people who aren't worth your time.

You and your OH have just hit a bit of a rough spot and there's nothing wrong in getting help, you're obviously a smart, hardworking girl and will get out of it in no time.

dont worry about it .... im exactly the same apart from the benfits because no one will give me any because im not entitled to them ... otherwise i would be ... i dont have a job and i haven't had one long enough for any kind of maternity pay ....
i've got a really good education as well which makes people think even worse of me and i shrug them off because this is what i want, it doesn't matter where i went to school or what grades ive got all that matters is ill be a good mother to my child! so many people out there aren't and it pisses me off ...

so dont worry just think about you and your child, if you have to be on benefits to look after it then so be it atleast you're taking care of your child. i dont have alot to give mine either but im gonna do my damn best ...

im a typical stereotype too, im on the council list and getting no where but i want whats best for my family and that involves a roof over our heads and food on the table!

so DONT WORRY concentrate on the 3 of you and sod what everyone else thinks
good luck

xxxxx

Your not a stereotype. Your a person whos had a bit of bad luck. I lost my job this year too, a job that I left uni for! Ive had to survive of benefits for a while but its not forever. Its not something you want to do for the rest of your life. Its just helping you out in a bad time, and thats exactly what its there for. Doesnt make you any less of a person.

Your not a stereo type, because this isnt what u want!
Your not like other people who dont want to do anything, u actually want to get better than what they offer u which makes u a better person!
Everyone struggles at some point but its the attitude u take that sets u apart from the rest cos all those stereo typical girls are the ones who dnt want to work and wont even think about better lives for their children.

Anyone who points fingers at u needs to be brought down a peg or two!
