12week scan-The sex??

Well Today i have been told by my hospital that at my 12wk scan on the 10th oct is the only time i can find out the sex of my baby..apparently they don't do it at a later scan because it's hard to tell because of the babies position....And they also stated to me that unless they are handing out questionaires then they will not tell me the sex of my child...for reasons as such as beeing sued and because asian women might abort the baby when they find out the sex.

This all sounds crazy to me but has anyone else heard of this?

aint heard of any of that hun...12 weeks is way 2 early 2 tell...16 weeks is the very earliest....usually at 20 week scan we all find out..!

It says in my baby book they can tell at 12 weeks but only if there very skilled and experienced and even then they proberly wont be 100%

Yes well they told me 12wks they will not do at 20wks...guess i'll find out in a few weeks

20 weeks scans are the usual time that everyone finds out they do say that they can never garentee (sp) that they can tell you and some places dont offer to tell you because all they are there to do is get the measurements of bubba!!

that all sounds a bit strange i thought the genitals werent formed properly by week 12 so they couldnt tell on the scan :s

I found out at 15 weeks but was told that it was by no means 100% accurate due to it being so so early xx

I went private & i was told the earliest was 16 weeks but best to leave it 17 weeks to be safe x
