ope you don't mind me popping through - I was a teen parent, and she is now 16yo
I met my then boyf's parents for the first time when I was pregnant and the conversations were similar - but I think it was just shock, it's not what you want for your children really is it? By the time Alice was born everyone was fine and they were and are great grandparents even though we split up when she was 18mths old.

Give them the benefit of the doubt for now and I am sure all will work out in the end.
