Mum's + mum's to be groups?

Has anyone else joined any.. and so far what's been your opinion on them?

i joined one and it was specific to teens.. and was called "teen mums2be"
however, i went along, and all the girls had already had their babies (so wern't mums to be at all) and were really bitchy and rude.. and spent their whole time talking about who they had fights with and stuff...

i can kinda see sometimes why people have the opinion of us they do.. and it makes me really annoyed.. and then i was talking to the midwife about maybe breast-feeding and they were all like ewww...
seriously.. what happened to maturity?

so i was possibly considering going to an adults one, but then i don't want them to look down on me, although my auntie said she did it (even though she was 20) and they were almost protective of herrr...

anyone else had any experiences... i'll talk more with the midwives about it.. cause there must be other girls due around the same time as me.. who haven't wanted to go either..
xxxx

i went to a young mums to be group once but didnt go again because it basically felt like i was back at school in class for 3 hours and they were only doing everything i did at college. it wasnt very sociable either because it was like a lesson we didnt talk.

owww mine wasn't like a lesson - it was kinda like being at a school disco what with party food on the side..
the idea was great, but there wasn't many people who still came aparently and they didn't seem too welcoming of new people

I haven't but I desperately want to go to one. I just find it very difficult to speak to new people, and to walk into somewhere that I have no idea who anyone is just terrifies me. I've been reccommended one, but it's too far for me to go till I pass my driving test. I did want to go to a young mums one, couldn't find any round here though I'm sure theirs one. Though judging from what you're saying there, it probably isn't very good, and i probably wouldn't like it. Guess all the 'normal' (for lack of a better word) young mums have walked in and walked out again, having a similar reaction to you.

yeah that's what i'm saying..
i'm not saying it's all the girls who go, it's just the ones who dominate.. don't really give anyone else a chance.. that part is like being back at school haha..
i was thinking maybe trying a slightly older one.. my mum said that'd be an idea..
or speak to the midwives about any others they might be running cause it's a young mum's midwife team

I'd say that was a plan. i mean personally I would speak to the midwife's a see if there are any more young mum groups, just for the fact that it would be nice to have people of similar ages with kids, to meet up with and things. Not saying you couldnt do that with older mums, but you know what I mean. That's just me personally though, I would love to know other people my age in my area who have babies, but there's just nothing around that I've found.

i go to one its not bad, right now im one of the only pregnant ones, they are nice girls, but sometimes they can be drama and only talk bout having sex and what not. i have gravitated towards some of the older young moms like myself that aren't into the drama

we get to talk bout things to do with our kids and sometimes we have different people come in and talk to us bout different things like cpr and reading to our kids and stuff like that, i do have fun though

I go to 3

One is a young mums one...and tbh it's completely fine - total opposite to the one you went to! There's only a few of us, but it's quite a good little group...at first I thought it was gonnna be like the one you described...but went anyway, and luckily my slightly judgmental attitude was wrong :P

Go to one with older mums to...and everyone is always really friendly..was pretty nervous about going, but was glad I went!

And go to a swimming one...where that's all older mums too...and people are just as friendly

Definitely would recommend going..if anything it gives you something to get out the house for! And it's good for LO to see other babies and ya never know...you might make some good friends

There's no harm in having a go..if you don't like it, don't have to go again!

Lor - I'm exactly the same with going to places...but was REALLY glad to have had a go, definitely worth the anxiety beforehand! x
