Induced Early because baby is to SMALL? :S

So I went to the hospital today to have my growth checked.
And the doctor measured with the tape again, and I'm 4 weeks behind now.
So he referred me for a growth scan next week, and then I'm going to be checked every 2 weeks.

The doctor then told me if she continues to grow small they may decide to induce me early

I don't get why they would wan't to bring on labour for a baby whose to small?

someone help me understand please?

xxx

My guess is because they're worried of health conditions/ect and it's much easier to monitor those sorts of things out of the womb if there is a problem? That's just my guess

i know someone who went through the same thing because the doctors were worried that the baby wasn't getting enough nutrients. And maybe, depends on how well baby breathes and things and when they actually do it if they decide to xx

I would guess that if they do deliver her early then she might have to spend some time in NICU Hon

BUT .... they will just monitor her for now to make sure that she is still growing - it might be that she is still growing at HER own rate and is just a dainty little one If that is the case then they will leave her where she is

Try not to worry I know that's easy to say and not so easy to do, but she is being monitored closely and whatever option they choose in the end it will be in yours and Summer's best interests, and you aren't that far from full term

Like the others have said it would probably be to monitor health etc.. Does sound a little odd though doesn't it lol

Sometimes they prefer to have the baby out vs in to ensure the baby gets enough nutrients. Good luck hon!!

It wouldn't be because she's small rather because she's not growing, and for whatever reason isn't getting all she needs, once she's out they can make sure she gets what she needs.

They can't be too worried yet, or they'd want her out asap, hope she has a massive growth spurt.

No one can say for sure if any baby will need time in nicu, but hopefully it won't be necessary, it just depends how small/early she is, and how well developed

If it's any consolation a fried was told her son wasn't growing, and that he'd be 5lb max, he was born 8lb9 shortly after, they do get it wrong

thanks everyone, I guess it would make sense that they would want to monitor her outside the womb if she isn't growing properly.

I can't wait for the scan to find out whether I'm worrying over nothing to be honest.

thank you for all replying to me (:
