at about 34 weeks i went to my midwife because i had been getting really bad pains in my stomach(nothing to do with this) she checked me and everything and told me the baby was to small for 34 weeks , then a few days later she sent me for a scan and they told me he was measuring 3 weeks behind what he should be! i got really worried like you !

I had to go back in two weeks for another scan and they told me he had hardly grew since the last scan so they gave me a date to go back to have the baby. They said my placenta had stopped and they needed to get the baby out as soon as possible.

i was induced on 6th October(36 weeks) and i had him at 10 o'clock on the 7th and he weighed 4lb,

I was going to say that fundal height measurements aren't accurate... Try not to worry too much.

If they induce because a baby is too small, it could be because he/she isn't getting enough nutrients.

I agree, fundal height can be really inaccurate . But the baby could be low resulting in a smaller bump. With my first pregnancy my son was measuring small so i had a scan booked in for 32 weeks. He was still growing but just on the smaller side. I didnt need further monitoring though. Even towards the end of my pregnancy i was measuring 4cms to small. I was still let to go fullterm, and i had him 3 days overdue.

This time, at my 20 week scan, my daughter is measuring 4 days behind. Ive been booked in for a scan at 32 weeks again. I seen my midwife and fundal height is 1-2 cms smaller then it should be.
You need to remember, genetics play a big part too. I was only 5 pound 10 full term so i was always told id most likely have small babies.

My son was born 6 pound 4 ounces and im told my daughter will probably be the same as i was born.

Yup, there comes a point (about 34 weeks methinks) when baby would be better out than in if theres a cause for concern. Obviously my LO would have been better in as she still had developing to do.

Depending on weight, if baby feeds well, and is breathing well, then it shouldnt take long at all for baby to go home, maybe even a few days. Those are the factors taken into consideration with small babies.

When I was born I was induced pre term because the placenta was no longer providing adequate nutrients and I wasn't growing properly. I guess it depends how early they're talking but I didn't even need time in SCBU. Then once I was out I started putting on a pound a week, so it really was better to be out of the womb!
I'm sure you don't need to worry, and you'll go on and not need to be induced, but if it does happen it isn't something you need to stress over!
