I hate all the preconceived ideas about teen mums, the looks you get off people!

I am 22 now but was 18 when I had DS and some of the stares I got, I felt like turning round and saying "WHAT? I am 18, I am married, my husband works and we rent our own house, now F-off and mind your own!"
Never did say it of course, I was so shy and quiet!
Also hated the way the midwives treated me as though I knew NOTHING, literally NOTHING and spoke to me like a child. Believe me this time round things will be different!! Mind you I bet now I am in my twenties and on my second child I'll be treated different anyway. Not fair and not right to be discriminated on because of age.

Oh hun you know your a good mum & thats all that matters

I agree with people looking down their noses and makin rude comments
I've just turned 20 but i'm quite petite and look about 16/17 and I always get stared at and people saying things.

Me and my partner both have full time jobs and are going to do our very best to give this baby the best life possible. We cant afford the best of the best like some mums who wiat until they're in their late 30's to have kids but NO ONE is going to love this boy as much as we will

I think its mainly jealousy why people make these comments

They dont want us to be able to cope and they wait for us to mess up just because we're "young"

x

same actually, i know a lot of girls like this unfortunately so i can definitely see where we get our bad name from

Hey, why not
All of this means nothing. Iv noticed that alot of these women who are properly chavvy and neglectful mothers seem to have blonde hair...maybe blondes shouldnt have kids?
Yeh, lets all tut whenever we see a blonde with a child coz they are surely going to be bad mum.
haha a good point

Lol Kris! Blondes shouldn't have babies!

It's so sad to think it, isn't it Anna? But the fact is even if we can see where our bad name comes from, we shouldn't all be lumped into one boat, because at the end of the day, I know people in their 30's who are just as bad for going out and drinking till all hours instead of taking care of their children!

Its a sad but true reality that some people really shouldn't have children! But thats not to say that YOUNG people specificaly should not have children, just some people in general, you CAN'T just lump a group of people into the same category because our ages are similar. Thats just stupid and naive to think that all people of 13-19 are exsactly the same.

Grrr

Ugh! I hate when people do that. Older people always look down on teen parents and call them names and expect them to be bad parents when really half the teen parents are better parents then most older parents are. It's so annoying. You see it every day places and it's just stupid. They call teen parents immature for having a child so young when they are the ones being immature for even thinking that. Just because you're young doesn't mean that you're incompetent at being a great parent.
I know I don't know you in person, but I do know that you care extremely for Thomas and that you'd die for him. You're a damn great mom and no one can change that. Don't worry about them hun. I know they are extremely annoying, but they aren't worth your time or energy. Next time just make a big show of playing with Tommy and when they are looking just smile big and wave. That's all you can really do. Because even if you did argue with them it won't change a thing because they'll keep doing the same thing. Just prove them wrong by continuing doing what you're doing and always remember that you are a wonderful mother.
