They told me to take the metal one out at my scans, I have two though so it might have been that they would just get in the way? Im not sure why. Probably best to do it to be on the safe side.

I got some plastic bendy ones that I started putting in from about 24 weeks... just when my metal ones were getting uncomfortable. I was worried about the skin stretching and the holes tearing.

Have you tried your plastic ones yet? I got some off ebay but they were so painful and uncomfortable I just haven't bothered with them. Just now and then put them in for a few hours to make sure the piercings don't heal.

They probably will ask you to take it out just so it doesnt get in the way when they scan you. I put my plastic maternity one in at about 20 weeks as thats when my bump started getting quite big and it was really uncomfortable with the metal one.

Good luck at your scan!

I kept my metal one in as long as I could. I was well past 20 weeks when I removed it. At my 20 week scan I was told if baby was high up I might have to take it out but he wasn't.

I haven't actually put a bendy one in because my skin is so stretched there that I think it would just make it worse. Besides mine is well healed and I check every now and then to see if there is still a hole which there is. If it's too tight I may just get it done again.

I only had to remove mine when I went in for a scan. I had it in right up until 24 weeks and had no problems with it throughout my pregnancy. My best friend managed to keep hers in right up until birth!!!
But I suppose you can remove it whenever it starts to feel uncomfortable. There really is no "right" time to remove it. Just whenever you feel like it starts to bother you.
